Lowering springs
Sunday, May 18, 2008 8:30 PM
I currently have koni yellows, and sprint springs on my ride. the back sits a little lower then the fron, and i LOVE the amount of gap that the rear fenders have...however, the front seems to how about .75 inch more gap then the rear. Is there anything to do to get about .5 to .75 inch more drop outts my front without changing springs. anythign that can be adjusted or something like that....i read the FAQs about the suspension stuff, and it looksa like sprint springs offer the most drop in the front...

i know how you feel i also have to same problem! i wish i could find out what to do.

no adjustment....if you wanted a level drop, you needed to get springs rated with the same drop front/rear.

There is no way to SAFELY drop the front any more.

technically not really being that the cars come stock with rake to it so the rear sits higher which is why you see lowering springs that offer more of a drop in the rear then the front. also some springs sag when they settle. sprint being 1 of them. only way to really fix your problem if its bothering you that much is to get new springs or get coil overs so you can adjust the height.

Agreed, but to me, it souds like they got that, and think that the rear sits lower than the front. if that really is the case, then you will have to do whats recomended above. If it is simply the appearance, than you will also have to do whats suggested above....

I hope that statement was coherent enough to get my point across, if not , well tough sh*t...

are you also sure that you have them installed properly....right way up, and so on?

Re: Lowering springs

^^ they probably do. its very common for some springs to sag past 2" and it throws off the look of the car

They are installed correctly. I know the j-bodys had "rake" "built-in". thats why i was asking if there was an adjsutment, maybe something to alter said "rake".

the setup was on teh car when i got it, and since the koni's are a cut and paste type strut, i was thinking mayeb they didnt have teh strut set in the housing all the way or something. It should all be cool though, as i think i have gotten my hands on the gravana coilover setup.....OPINIONS???

If you can post up a good side pic, it might help us identify if there is really an issue or not. The thing about our cars is that if the car is actually level, the rear will have slightly less gap than the front, because the openings are not exactly the same front to back. Your car may be sitting level. The Sprints actually have an even drop (1.8"), but if the rears have settled more than the front, then that's probably the issue. I have Sprints, and I love how the car sits, at a slight rake, but even gap front and back.

hmmmm my sprints on d-specs sit really nice actually. I dont understand what the difference is. Mine maybe have 700 miles on them 800 at max, I can only fit 2 fingers in the front and 3 in the rear. This is on a 2200 as well and people say that the eco's and 2.4's sit lower in the front that the 2200s.

what was brought up on our AZJBO site...

these springs were designed probably with the heavier LD9 and LN2 motors. since the Eco ways a bit less, that might be why he's seeing the "reverse rake".

Agreed, difference in engine weight will not make that much of a reverse rake.

there is something wrong there.

oh, and i dig the new wheels 01cav. very nice.

well i dunno....

jarrett get on eric about getting the gravanas outta storage, ima buy them from him and all my problems will be solved...

all i can think of is that the front struts arent "cut and pasted" properly...if tht makes sense

Re: Lowering springs

I thought the fronts were full replacements, and the rears were inserts.

i could be wrong though

fronts are inserts.

i highly doubt thats the problem. you have to figure the weight of the car would push it down into the knuckle if it wasnt fully in. not to mention if it wasnt fully in the weight would still push down on the shaft of the strut and lower the car. the difference in positioning that your talking about is very small if any.

it also has a 2200 whats the weights diff in a 2200 and a 2.2.eco

Re: Lowering springs
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 10:10 AM
not that much....maybe 75-100 lbs..

looks like you have a 0.0, and an eco sitting on a stand beside the car.

i would recomend the coilovers you re thinking about. I cant tell you whats wrong with yours...but something is.

Re: Lowering springs

so maybe the 125-150 lbs missing from my front is the diff....
