I just picked up a set of B&G lowering springs for my car. As a friend of mine was just getting rid of them. $40 can't beat that. But on 2 of the springs the power coat or paint is chipping away. I was wondering if i could sand blast them and re-paint them.
-Will the sand blast decrease structural stability?(due to the minor pits it creates when sand blasted)
-What should i re-paint the springs with?(any certain or better paint or product that will work better)
-Do i need to cut away the stock bump stops when installing these?
For now i am putting them on stock struts. I will be getting the a coil over set-up later on in a couple months. I just want it lowered for now.
Thank you
I have some scratching on my Tokico springs, I'm not worried about it... You shouldn't need to cut away bump stops.

when you lower the car you have to cut the bumpstops. as far as lowering it, if your getting coils later no need to put these on. putting them on stock struts is a very bad idea
You'll regret putting them on stock struts. The last thing you want to do is blow them for no reason. It's always nice to have a quality stock suspension to throw back on incase something comes up. Wait until you get the coilovers.
Plus you will end up paying for two alignments. Better to wait for the coils and pay for just one.
As far as painting the springs i can't see it doing any damage but springs aren't perticually visible so i wouldn't worry to much about it.

lol my alignments are free, my buddy works at a shop. I go there to get that kinda stuff done.
The reason i want to paint them is cause the paint is chipping and it has some surface rust on it.
