Alright guys, i have 100% stock suspension right now and since the sunfire is not a daily anymore i only take it out on weekends and on fridays at the track. I want to get some nice suspension to help get my 60's down and everything with some nice drag radials.
I'm debating on either KYB adjustable struts or the Koni full setup. If i read right, you wanna stiffen the back up so when you launch the ass doesn't tuck down so much which raises the front some creating less weight and spinning.
I also heard of tokico struts but im 100% blind to suspension so help me out here. Thanks!
KYB AGX Adjustables:
- Lower cost "economical" choice
- Direct replacements
- Good for lowering up to 1.5"
Tokico D-Specs:
- Direct replacements
- Good for lowering with most any coil spring setup (up to ~2.5")
- Comparable to the Konis for performance
Koni Yellows:
- Widely considered the best all-around J-Body strut
- Good for lowering with most any coil spring setup (up to ~2.5")
- Front struts are an "insert" that uses the casing of the factory struts for installation. (Slightly more involved install).
The lowering capabilities are of no consequence with stock springs and ride height, however you may eventually choose to lower the car to help reduce weight transfer during drag launches.

well according to the fast and the furious, koni adjustables will help with the weight transfer
in all seriousness though, koni yellows would be my pick. (i've had good luck with mine)
AGX's here, love them, even when they've been hit by a Honda Element.
Having used Konis on three cars, AGX on one and Tein (Flex coilovers fwiw) on another, for a simple shock I'd go for the Konis. As far as basic adjustable shocks go, they're often considered the best around...for many applications, not just the j cars.

i have d-specs, id say d-specs if you dont want the extra hassle of cutting the strut housing to put the front koni cartridge in..
sort of related here, on top of stiffening the back, would you want to soften up the front for launching at all?
