Tokico HP (bules) and RK sport springs. I've decided not modify oem shock damper shafts (cut shorter), because it posed a danger to the public and would have no resale value. So I saved a little, and bought all the parts seperately from ebay. Tokico HP Shocks and Struts (Brand New and original) $200, RK sport springs (used) $75. Total cost $275 including shipping. Regularly this combo would run you at least $500. Wish me luck on the instal!
Nice deal. Are those struts ajustable?
wow, looks awesome.
as said above... adjustable?
No there are not, but these can sustain a drop from 1''-1 3/4'' (for warranty to be valid), I pushed it a bit more in a drop of 1.60'' front, and 1.40'' rear.
glad you choose real struts instead of cutting stockers
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

I always thought the HP were not warrantied for ANY drop (as they are OEM replacements), where the d-specs are warrantied up to 1.5" or something like that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Their was a thred where they were talking to tokiko and they said the valving was the same as the d-specs and would hold up to being droped. but without the adjustability u can't lower them as much.
Yeah thats true, they do have the same internals but can't be adjusted for more lowering. I've heard on other non-j-body forums (Honda and Lexus) that these hold up pretty well.
I spoke with tokico on this before installing them..They will warranty up to a 2 inch drop...As long as the Bump Stops are cut...The Adjustable Valving has nothing to do with how low the car can go..It is for setting the car up if you are racing it...Tokico told me that the HP and the Dspec are basically the Same internals..With the exception on the HP you can not adjust it...And no the HP is not just a factory replacement..A factory replacement is A KYB Gr2...I have had mine for a few months now and I am very happy with them...I am running 1.8 drop in the front..And 1.4 in the rear..I hope you enjoy them as much as I like mine..
If I would have known this I wouldn't have gotten my d-specs and sportlines and just got those struts and kept the H&R's I had.

Holy balls, if I would have known these shocks were close to d-specs and warrantied for a drop I would have gotten them over my AGX's which I just installed saturday... oh well
Where did you get them for $200?

ehem.
oh wow. He was actually going to CUT the strut shaft down? that's not good...
That's not that uncommon on cars that have plenty of clearance between the spring perch and tire. Nothing more than than sectioning an inch or two off the strut housing and welding back together and having a machince shop cutting down the strut rod and rethreading. Some older cars had a nut on top that makes disassembling the strut easier (or allowed for new cartridges instead of a whole new strut). Company named Bectech used to make shortened struts to lower some cars as well. I know they did 1st gen Escorts (Escort GT was popular when it came out) and read about them in SCC. Pretty much dropped the car and rode like stock since you were using the factory spring and the shortened rod wouldn't bottom out.

Never believed in the Tokico blues much myself until I saw a variety of other cars being dropped on them. We're wanting to do a Pro-Kit on the girl's sedan so I'm definately considering these struts after other research and this post.
Joe,
Is that the RK Sport Ground effects kit on your ride?
