hi guys,
it may sound like a silly question but i checked using search and couldn't get an answer. the question is this:
what tool is need to remove the screws in the back of my calipers to do a pad replacement? i can't find my haynes manual anywhere though i'm sure the answer would be there :p
thanks in advance
you have to go to an auto parts store, and get the "brake caliper tool", at least thats what they called it here when i did it. anyways it looks like a huge alan wrench. you might have a really big alan wrench around that would work. if not the tool is like 3$.
good luck

I just changed my front brakes and rotrs two weeks ago on my 03 Fire. I used a 3/8 hex head (alan head) with a short ratchet. Worked perfect. Quick and easy job. I still need to do the rear drums but I've been procrastinating. I hate drums.

It's a 3/8" Allen, can get them anywhere. I got one from Craftsman that goes on a wrench.
Drum shoes last forever (figure of speech). My 97 fire with 82Kmi still had a little pad on them when I took the axle off.

also grab the brake pad compressor thing to make life easier
Or if you have a c-clamp, you can use that...
Place the clamp on the outer pad and the back of the caliper (basically, you are using the old brake pad to "center" the clamp on the caliper). You might have to loosen the clamp periodically as to not break the spring clips on the brake pad...
