OE struts with lowering srings/coilovers

Has anybody ran on any lowering springs/coilovers with the stock shocks/struts without any problems?

Ive seen (and asked around) plenty of people on here who do havent had any problems whatsoever

Ive read the faq and sticky and just wanna make sure that I can do this without any major problems besides lowering the life on the shocks/struts?

Thanks in advance

try not to do it.

you're just asking for trouble. the stock struts are not meant to be used with lowering spring/coilovers. you're risking your safety, and the car as well.

save up and do it right.

Been there, done that. NEVER again. I've ridden in boats that had less bounce in them. not a good idea.

It's doable. goin around a year and a half now on stock struts with sprints. is it a decent ride. yes on a completely smooth surface. on a bumpy road THEY SUCK! you will bounce yourself to death. The stock struts with not handle the spring rate that lowering springs offer.

At the very MINIMUM get a set of AGXs from KYB. They can be had on ebay for under $400 shipped. They're only warrantied for 1.5", but I've seen them on a few Js that are running Sprints or Eibach Sportlines where the drop is closer to 2" and no problems. Just remember that if they blow on a drop over 2" even from a factory defect, the warranty won't be any good. For over 1.5", you're better off with D-Specs or Koni Yellows. Either of thise I've seen on ebay for about $550. Some dealers will even tell you that Tokiko HP are good for 1.5" drop but they're considered a factory replacement so that's a gamble and I doubt Tokiko will warranty them if you use them with lowering springs.

Believe me, you don't want to keep running stock struts. I blew my D-Specs ( bough tem used, long story) and had to put on a set of stock struts until I can afford new ones, and believe me, the ride sucks and I've destroyed my upper mounts.

Much appreciated everyone. Thanxz to all for the help.

Now I gotta save up for some Koni's or AGX's. Oh well, do it right or dont do it at all.
