I bought a car froma guy witha blown tranny, I replaced that, got it driving and there was a bunch of clunks in the front end. I replaced the stabilizer bar links, control arm bushings, both wheel hubs, and there is still a cop. Is mostly happends when I am backing up and turning. When I had everything apart, the balljoints looked and felt like they were still decent. If anyone has an ideas of what it might be that would be great. Thanks
strut mount or ball joints
The ball joints still have life left in them. Where are the strut mounts? just the top part of the bolt where it bolts to the car? I belive the axels are still good as well
i have the same problem after installing koni adjustable suspension their tech guy said strut mounts need to be changed try that
check your inner tie rod boots im a gm tech and we have a bulliten for that very problem
have a friend turn the wheel while you are touching the boot if you can feel the poping there it means the boot is collapsing and touching the tierod end. all thats needed to fix is replace the boot
tie rod ends...... I have a friend that thought it was his axles which were bad and replaced them... still clunked.... replaced strut mounts in the front... still clunked.... now what u can do to find out if it is this
jack one wheel up at a time or if you got a friend lift front end off the ground and support the car on jackstands.
now that the front end is properly support have your buddy sit inside the car and hold the steering wheel..
now put your hands on the left and right of one of the front wheels and do a push pull motion on the wheel to see if there is play....
if there is play its the tie rods
do the same on the top and bottom and that will tell u if its the strut mount
then repeat the same for the other side to find out
300hp&tq coming soon
