sway bar question
Friday, September 15, 2006 4:22 PM
So I've done some reading on this, but am still not 100%. I have a 2000 Sunfire 2200 (no sway bars). Currently have Eibach pro series springs and KYB's. Don't like the body roll and want to cut it down a little. Was thinking of the Eibach front an rear package simply because they're Eibach. From what I understand if I do this I will still need to get some hardware off a GT to mount the front. Is this correct? Can I go with just a rear bar and avoid the more difficult front installation? Probably have to create a balance right and that means two sway bars. What company has the easiest installation? I heard there is a rear bar that requires no drilling? True? Really looking for some direction on this from you guys who started out with no sway bars at all. What do I need to make the roll fade. Thanks.

Your Sunfire should have come w/ an FE1 suspension package... check under the spare tire cover for that code... if its there, then you may not need to get the parts from the GT...

Like you, I'm not 100% sure on that as well.

Thanks Kardain. I'll check...or atleast try. My sub setup in the trunk is pretty hard to disassemble to get to the spare but I'll give it a try. Any one else with some answers to my original post. All help is appreciated.

Yeah, if you have the stock front bar, then if you like a little bit f oversteer when in corners........well it is actually pretty progressive unless you do something to really upset the car, I would put on the Addco rear bar, and yes that is the one that doesn't need holes drilled to mount the endlinks. This is the setup that I have and I love it, but if you want a more neutral, with some understeer still, go with the Eibachs.

But if you don't have the stock front sway bar, then I would say Eibach front and rear, or Addco also makes a front bar which, I believe that you can get both as a package deal but not for sure. Hope I helped some

Eibachs are sold as a pair ($300 shipped from carcustoms.com) Eibach does not sell them seperately

Does anyone here have the Addco front & rear 26mm bars on their car and if so how's the handling? I'm ready to upgrade the swaybars on my 2000 Z24 and I don't know whether to get the Eibach kit or the Addcos. Currently my car has Tien Super Street coilovers, RKSport subframe brace, RKSport upper & lower motor mounts, Vibrant front & rear strut braces and 18x7.5 Riax wheels with 225x40x18 Kumho Ecsta's.

2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.

I have both front and rear Addco bars, the ride is great ! Overall I am very happy with them.

I personally prefer the Addco over the Eibach myself. They're less expensive and you can buy them seperatly.

The Addco GB is still going on as well.

I have Eibach frt and rear. There was a definate difference in the handling, in stead of pushing and leaning hard. It now hugs , if you push it hard the whole car will slide instead of push.

Pics soon to come !!! I'm new...

I'm using Addco's in the front and back. Excellent setup. The eibach's have a 26mm front and 22mm rear. Typically a bigger bar in the front will result in understeer. I would prefer the Addco's since they are both 1" and will result in more of a neutral setup (which is where you want to be).
