open the hood/trunk and push down on the car (not a body panel) and see if you can see anything move. If you can see anything move it's done.

I was having a bump clunk and rattle in my wife's 2002 cavy and dealer said it was the strut mounts and it ended up costing me $630 to replace both front strut mounts and to get an alignment.

Does it also do it when you're shifting from gear to gear?
Could be your upper or lower ball joint going out and not your strut mounts.
I had this problem and got worse with time.
Looking at all of the ball joints noticed that the boot on one of the uppers had dry rotted and busted open, causing the knocking sound I heard when shifting or hitting certain bumps.

Tie rods have since been replaced as has both ball joint and no more knocking.

Just double check this to make sure you don't have other problems.

what would cause a scraping noise around turns

That depends .....three things come to mind
1 the hub
2 rotor
3 upper strut mount bearing

if its the hub i dont have a trouble shooter for that cause ive never experienced a problem with it
if its the rotor look @ the rotor and feel the surface if there is grooves you might have a rock or sumthing in it and when pressure is put on it around a corner say it rubs enough for a squeek
if its the bearing jack the car up (with key in on position) and turn the wheels withyoru hands ... if u feel it jump or you hear a noise ... thats a good sign there gone or going ...

hope this helps
