brass fitting is really @!#$ pain in the ass! just use grip pliers and tweak hell out of them.
it took us lot of time on that part on my rear drums to baer rear disc conversion.
are you converting to bbk on fronts or just upgrading the brake lines?
good luck!

a new look coming in summer 2006

I've never had any problems just using a 11mm wrench on them (I think it was 11mm, maybe it was 12 or 10 though). Liquid wrench or WD40?
The hole in the banjo bolt does not need to line up with the hole in the caliper hose. There's a grove in the bolt that the fluid will follow around.
I ha dthis same issue wiht mine, so I dindt put on my Russel lines when we did the rotors and pads, I just gotta run out and get a brake line wrench when money allows, pull off my wheel and tear shizz up again, I should of just mangled the bastards off the line..... *sighs*
Did you have a wrench on the hardline? When I did the Wilwood kit on my 130,000 mile Sunfire, I used penetrating oil and the lines came off fairly easily.
And what metal bent? The hardline or the bracket.
