ticking noise drive side wheel bearing
Sunday, March 26, 2006 8:31 PM
I have a 98 cavalier rs. Manual transmission. I have an ungodly noise coming from somewhere in the front driver side. I thought at first it was my engine , but that proved not to be when i blew the engine up last week , and i already replaced it , i hoped it would take care of the problem it didn't . It makes the noise at any speed , under braking and while coasting. the only time it doesn't make the noise is when im under acceleration, I checked the axle when i had them out during the motor transplant. they were fine , no torn boots or lose joints. i also checked the tie rod end. and lower ball joint. all is well. Im ready to just tearing it apart and replacing things one by one. but i would care for some tech info about this before i go pulling it back arpart. the only thing that i found alittle odd is the wheel bearing itself doesn't spin extremely free. with no axles in it , it spins but seems to hang just a tiny bit. The car also pulls alittle to the left while driving.

Thanks Chris
