Hey all i use to off road trackers. we ude to get struts for the rear of a mustang gt. they are 2" longer and would give u a 2" lift so my question is i got a 2001 z24. and i like the factory ride an not lookin for performance but want to drop it 1" to 2" is there a car that has shorter struts that would fit undr this car? thanks
struts DO NOT affect height, springs and coilovers do.

Word to both.
Dave, please use punctuation where necessary. I got a slight headache reading your post.
Sorry boys i wrote that at work the other night, very tired. what i ment was the whole spring an coilover unit out off a early 90s mustang was 2" taller and would bolt in place. Is there a car that the whole unit is 2" shorter and will bolt in place.
You want to life a J-Body?
I don't think anyone makes anything that would lift it more than ~1/2" (bags or special made GC coilovers).
no he wants to swap out the rear struts off another car onto a j to make his car lower. i dont know of any car that will bolt right up to it but i dont see it working
Tien h-tech have VERY similar spring compression pound rates, as compared to the stock spring. So I would say that with some lowering struts sent on their lightest setting would yield a fairly stock ride with a 1" drop.
You can put H-Techs on stock struts. Just don't be suprised when they wear out (the struts) after two years. You can also use Suspension Techniques (1.1" drop).

Struts made for our cars do not affect ride height, but his question is still valid. If there were a strut made for some other car that could be bolted to ours... and that strut had the spring perch an inch and a half lower... then they'd lower the car.
Of course, I don't know of any such struts. But again... the question is valid. Don't be so quick to pounce.
it doesnt sound safe at all... im sure someone can tell you why

I pounced, and then provided the correct information
.
Anywhosit for the amount of money you'd spend purchasing used struts from another car you could have any number of lowering springs.
Done thru e-bay, you can get some AGX's and H&R's all together for $600.00 or less. Gravana tuning sells the koni sport kit that comes with springs and struts for a decent price.

I don't know about the rear but there isn't a whole lotta clearance between the spring perch and tire on the front.
Thanks guys for all the responses. Ya mike i never thought about the spring perch!! as for safe i can show you 3 trackers that are daily drivers that use this for a simple 2" lift and have been for years. price would be nothin i can get most all factory parts for next to nothin. but it wouldn't worthe perch would be sittin on the tire. Thanks All this is a great site love it
valid question.... oe strut that would be able to handle a lowering of a 2'' of our cars w/ the same bolt pattern...guys i'll look this up at work tomorrow thru the books again to see if there is anything that has a compression of 2inchs lower thna ours so you could use it so that it wouldn't "bump" and bottom out when you went over bumps... (like mine)
You can't just change that stuff. It's not that simple.
If you lower the car you have to raise the spring rate to compensate. It's a trade-off.
The higher spring rate will overpower, and destroy, stock struts (and aftermarket not meant for lowering). Then you bonce all over the place and have other problems as well.
