Dear Jbody enthusiasts,
I am considering upgrading my 2004 Cavalier (Ecotec, Getrag 5-speed) with a Phantom Grip and some stronger CV axles.
I have heard mixed reviews of the Phantom grip -- some people claim that it doesn;t work well. With the full race springs installed, does this unit still perform sub-par? IF it really is a poorly performing unit, then I suppose I should be considering a different LSD option.
As for my second question, I would like to upgrade to a stronger set of CV axles (I plan to have a boosted engine). I have checked the links in the FAQ, but no one lists an application for an 04 with a getrag (driveshaft shop goes up to 03, jbody performance doesn't list years, I thoought the axles for the f23 getrags were all the same).
Help...
The Phantom grip works good, where did you hear it didn't work? Did those people know what it does? It is a
limited slip diff, it's not posilock, it's not an axle lock.
The stock axles are quite strong, and good for about 250 to 300 bhp IMHO. Of course pealing out all the time, and drag racing takes it's toll.
