Sup guys.

I just bought a friends j-body for $300.

its a 96, 5 speed, 2 door coupe, 2.2Liter OHV

Anyway...
I bought it with this WEIRD syptom:

It turnsover perfectly, fires up, and then runs for about 1/2 a second then cuts off...

EVERYTIME I try to turn it over, it starts for about 1/2 to 1 second, then cuts off.

Fuel pump is good, checked fuse, checked continuity at the pump, all is well...

Hes a known friend, and before I bought it from him, I noticed it had this symptom all along, and I noticed that if he keeps trying to start it, over and over, after a random amount of times of starting it, it will run PERFECTLY...

But recently it finally stopped doing this, and now doesnt run perfectly anymore, it only starts runs then dies, and thats it.

I dont know much about these cars, but informative posts would be appreciated.

BTW: I changed the coil's (both of them) and it didnt help anything...

almost sounds likje it could be a passlock problem. but post up in the 3rd gen forum. everything 95+ is a 3rd gen.

sounds like passlock, shut the doors and turn the key on for 10-15 min and come back to it turn key off then try starting it
