Okai... i just put on the brand new P&P head with all brand new internals in it...
Car ran fine for about a week... i had some minor clicking from 2 push rods that were rubbing the side of the head slightly... but ive been told thats to be expected with the 1.6 Comp Cam Roller Rocker arms ...
All the sudden the other day... i was driving down the road, and i notice a total loss in power... i was at 35 MPH and it took 10 seconds to get to 45... while my tach read 5000 RPMS .... then at idle the oil pressure light flickered... and went away on rev... i pulled over as soon as possible and checked... Oil level is full, oil plug is tight, no leak around gasket, and the filter is tight with no leaks... i then drove it to my work and parked it and pulled the valve cover off ... it sprayed oil out the top like normal, so i know the oil pump isnt bad...
after letting it cool over night, and starting up in the subsequent days... the oil light no longer comes on... however ive never let the engine warm up enough so im not sure if it wont just come back on when it warms up..
Also when this happened, i noticed a loud knocking noise coming from the lower end under Cyl 1 ... it wouldnt do it at idle, but it kick it at about 2500 RPMS and increase with Rev... my buddy told me it sounds like the Crank shaft needs to be retorqued... while my other buddy told me it sounds like the crank shaft is burnt up...
I intend on towing it to my buddys house, and ripping off the oil pan and trying to investigate from there...
1) What should be looking for in-terms of determining whether the crank is bad?
2) If it is bad... is there a how to out there already, with detailed instructions on removal and replacement, with suggestions on performance brands to consider for replacement...
3) since i've already at that point yanked the motor, is there a how to out there for the Cam shaft removal and replacement... and suggestions on performance brands to consider for replacement...
4) and at that point, if i do both, i might as well do the pistons, rings, and rods... so suggestions there for performance parts
if i end up doing the bottom end, i intend running some sort of turbo setup down the line...

What engine is it? Did you do anything to the bottom end recently or just from the head up? Usually an oil light on at idle with the engine warm means worn bearings, check the sending unit too because they're usually cheap. If you hear a knock then I would definently remove the oil pan and check all of your crankshaft bearings as soon as you can. The bearings should not be worn down to a brass or copper color, if they are they're smoked. To check the crankshaft look for ridges on it, and run your fingernail across it to see if it's smooth. Check for any abnormal wear. If you did any performance work to the top end and you've got some miles on the bottom it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a crank kit in it anyway. Good luck.
You can't outrun the radio.
its 2.2 92 & 93 Series...
i only did from the head up...
thanks for advice... imma get to tear it apart in a couple days once i get it towed to where im workin on it...
any suggestions on a good crank kit to get?

I've been away all weekend, I'll give you a call tomorrow sometime.
What crank kit you get depends on what kind of build you've done on the top end. Call a performance parts place and tell them what you've done to the top, they should be able to suggest the correct crank kit for your application.

my cavy kinda did the same thing i was getting like 25 psi of oil pressure and it was because my main bearing on my crank was wore out. you could take a pry bar and lightly move the crank to see how much movements there.
nothing
kinda same topic so...... what would be the best of the best lowerer end set-up if i were to turbo the 2.2L?? Where to buy? I know Jbodyperfprmance.com has forged stuff but is the set-up from there the best of should i look somewhere else?
