Sunbird GT nose

Hi I'm new to this board I own a 90 Sunbird convertibleSE and like the look of the GT with the flip up headlights. I would like to know if anyone has done this conversion and what all do I need to do this? Do you need to replace the core support or is it just light assemblies and sheet metal? Thanks

Well there are two styles of flip ups. There are phase 1 flip ups (Sunbird SE, GT had em) and they used a 1st gen style front end.

There are the phase 2 flip ups (only Sunbird GT, I believe) and they plugged into a regular front end.

If you found some phase 2 flip ups, dont forget to grab the wiring between the lights and the mount on the firewall. Then it will work fine.

I did the conversion on my 92 sunbird le. i put the 93 gt nose on mine and it bolted right up to everything. to make the flip ups work you will need a power window switch and wire it right up to your batery( as there will be no connections on your stock headlights.

Could I tap into the power wire from the lights or Headlight switch to a relay for the motors?

no because you need to reverse the current to get the lids down... the switch you need is the same as a power window switch i dont know exactly what it is clled.

I didn't think of that. Do you know how they are wired from the factory? I would'nt think it would be a seperate switch.

Click on the left: Garage, Then: Install Flip up headlights.. Should give you an idea on what is involved.

It would be expensive to ship. I figure you could get the hood and fenders off a 1st gen locally, then get my flip ups and the bumper....

Thanks for the offer but I don't want to swap out the hood fenders and bumper to do this.
