Its not a 2nd gen, I can tell you that. None of us (AFAIK) have enough N/A mods to be that competitive.

^^well I have a t3 super60 turbo with a fmic 10:1fmu boost controller ect... on mine and its a 2.2. not to many second gens have it, but they do exsist^^ that would probebly be your next upgrade or you could save yourself about 3grand and just buy nitrous. I guess its more prefrence.

^^ that would kill his whole *non boosted* thing...

for an N/A 2.2

(these are in no order in anyway... just numbered as they pop in my head

1) run AC Delco Rapid Fire plugs... dont let anyone tell you to run anything but delco... (yes Bosch plugs are pieces of @!#$) ...
and get acell 8 mm thundersport wires... (you can call summit racing and order them)...

2) buy my head and new valves from me and get it p & P ... and order a set of the comp cams roller rockers... and 10 MM GM Rocker studs...

3) upgrade your cam... at least to the 94 + 2.2 engine cam.

4) lower end internals (i havent done these yet so i couldnt tell you a good setup yet)... but you have to remember if you boost one day... the lower end can only handle about 4 lbs unless you do internals...

5) this is going a bit out of the rhelm but you can think about getting a shift kit on your trannie or swappin that over to the getrag/muncie if you have the isusu

the list could go on...

^^I agree with everything that you said except 2 things,,, first, your boosting internals can handle more than 4lbs, I'm running 9 psi (unless your not talking about psi) safly (with proper setup and tune.
2ndly the plug type fo r ac delco is ACDelco R42LTS plugs, is the best of ac delco (in which I am changing to currently. but there really isn't anything wrong with bosch I have been running that for years until the ac delco plug as mentioned above came out.

I guess more or less the plug situation is more of a prefrence. but those ac delco's are really great.

but essentially your right for a non boosted engine. all way around.

On top of the plugs/wires/header/intake/etc, this is what I'm running (pretty much every 2.2 bolt on out there)-

RSM 59mm throttle body
Flex-A-Lite fuel cooler
Accel adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Comp Cams 1.6:1 roller tip rockers
ASP underdrive crank pulley
Lightened flywheel
SCE .062” copper head gasket
CatCo high flow converter
Flowmaster 60-series muffler
Custom 2 1/4" mandrel bent tubing
Z24/RS (6 cyl) radiator and cooling system

I have no idea what it will do on a dyno, and low end power is lacking (until I work out a good cam). I've got some stuff on order (crank scraper, pistons, and rods, as well as a custom oil pan) to be installed sometime over the summer in prep for the winter 07 turbo install.

Haven't decided yet. I've talked to several people about it. Possibly a T3 super 60, but its still a long way down the road yet, so every option is open. I may even supercharge it. I'll keep in touch with you about the flange. PM me with what you want for it.

i was refering to stock internals.... a lower end with all OEM GM parts can only handle like 4

James I would love to see your car in person!! Just thought I would tell you...

Byron's sunfire probably... it was a 3rd gen though. 2.2L with an unknown compression ratio and cam spec. If you hit up Event I think he knows more about it.

13.6 @ 100mph on a 3 spd auto, All-Motor OHV... And I'd bet that with a well driven stick, the same motor would have a shot at low 13's/high 12's.

Two questions.... where would I get the rsm throttle body... and how much do they help with HP?

James I found a 62 mm TB for cheaper then the 59mm would that be better??

Re: whos got the fastest non boosted 2.2L?

Where did you find a 62mm TB for the 2.2? Are you sure its not for the 2200? They have a totally different IM with a seperate TB.

A bigger TB won't really net you any HP unless you have forced induction. You'll see a better throttle response on a N/A engine. You can find it at www.rsmracing.com. Or, I've seen some other companies that will do the boring for you if you send them your TB.

Ahhh....ok.

62TB1GJ31-1101 and 62TB1GJ28-1102 are for the 2.8/3.1, 62TB3GJ2200-1105 is for the 2200, 62TB4GJ22-1106 is for the ECO, 62TB3GJ23-1111 is for the 2.3, and 59TB2GJ22-1113 and 59TBGJ22-1114 are for the 2.2. That site is kind of confusing, since they don't specify engine, only years.

so the 59TB2GJ22-1113 is the one i need?
