My girlfriend is about to buy a 1990 Z24 Automatic about 150 miles from my current location. The guy I am going to buy it off of said that the speedometer isn't working. My question is what should be the first thing I should look for I am sure I can figure it out myself but in case someone has had this problem before or if the Cavaliers are known for this problem a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I believe 1990 had the cable driven speedo still so the speedo cable could have broken.

coule be speedo cable, speedo head, or the speedo gear in the tranny.
