Hi, my name is Guy. I am new here and do not own a J body. But I know what a J Body is and I really like these little cars. I wish we had more of them here in Southern California. First, I want to say this is a great website. I drive a 1989 Dodge Aries Coupe. In fact, I am president of the Chrysler K Car Club at www.chryslerkcar.com. I started my club for the same reason you guys started this forum, to preserve 1980s American car products. I hope we can get along as I am primarily Mopar but really have an obssession with ALL Cars, junky or not. If you guys ever had a 1st generation GM J body car show here, I would go to it in a heartbeat.
Glad to meet you and welcome to JBO! This part of the forums is a little slow as not too many 1st gen folks post as often as the newer models. But we're a good group of folks and we all share the love of these little cars.
Welcome again,
BTW- I dig the K-car as well. Post up some pictures of your Aires coupe!
My family is also strange and loves these old economy cars. I have also owned a 1981 Ford Fairmont Coupe, and my brother currently drives a 1976 Chevrolet Chevette "woody" model.
Its funny how much people poke fun of these cars...but they get 30MPG, run on the highway, and have plenty of room to carry 4 people and their stuff. Why pay $20,000 to do the same thing today?
Keep the econo-faith.
That's great. Oh, Chevettes are practically non-existent here. But, I saw my first 76 Chevette last week in mint condition. An 84 also drives by my office occasionally. That's all I know of. Ironically, the two 82-83 Cavs I saw were in mint condition. I think some of the few J bodies left here are not being driven much because part resources are scarce. I did get to go to pick-a-part recently. I saw a fair number of 80s American cars there. More than whats left on the road today. I think a lot of these had been here a couple years. No J bodies though. By the way, check this out:

As much as the K car is found in greater numbers than many 80s American cars, we have a few of our own models from the early 80s nearing extinction like
the Pontiac J2000.
I still can't find the one year only model called the 1982-83 Dodge 400 4dr Sedan. We do now have a member that comes to my shows who has the RARE
82 Aries Wagon with the infamous 2.6 Mitsubishi Motor. It is actually a very reliable motor. It got a bad rap because when the oil pump chain breaks, the engine is thrashed
into oblivion. The woody K wagon and convertible models are the first K cars that are actually now being considered collectibles. I am sure that is the case with the turbo models in the J body community. My car has 113,000 miles on it. Tell me about your car.
Here's my page to see my car and history.
