Lost my '86 Z this year :(
Sunday, November 04, 2007 5:07 PM
t-boned a stupid deer at 55 MPH in March Insurance totaled it rather than repair it. I had to make the hard decision of letting it go (I pulled a lot of parts for my '87 first) as living in Yosemite I don't have a place to store or work on it, nor the time to hunt for parts. Of course I still have my '87 ragtop--216,000 miles and still going strong! It's pretty much a daily driver these days, although it does sleep in the winter as it snows a lot where I live. Next June makes 20 years that I've owned it! As for internet time I spend most of it here: http://www.truckstopusa.com/forums/index.php and here: http://www.skiliftforum.com/ My screenname is EagleAce at both forums. Drop on by! My main interests these days are skilifts and trucks; in the winter I'm a lift operator and in the summer I drive trucks (the one in my sig) here in the park. I just recently passed the written DMV test for a commercial class A license; I have a permit and will be attending truck driving school soon. I'll try and drop by here when I have the time to offer tips. And here's the truck I've been drooling over:

International CXT-- the largest production pickup truck in the world!

Too bad on the car that sucks. My ride has been in my family since90 sister owned it and I bought it from her in 98.Speaking of trucks I myself have been a prof truck drvr for 7 yrs and like it alot but,it has its days even tho I am home everyday and off wkends.I did otr for awhile with my comp but, switched to a ded account with a daycab then this aug I had to get a single sleeper trk (sucks) bc freight was slow and that way If I was out I had a place to sleep.I sure miss my 97 international daycab it was sweet alum whls, sliding 5th cummins M11 ,10spd great on mpg and ran like a biatch! Good luck

Thanks Ron! Great to see another truck driver here! What model was your International?? Some people badmouth them but I sure like 'em. The ones I drove this summer (the one in my sig ) were really enjoyable, even though they're automatics (5-speed Allison, no slouch there!) Comfortable, very maneuverable, great power; they have the DT466 engine. I'm excited about school! It's flexible with my work schedule; I'll be attending two days a week, so in about ten weeks I should have my class A CDL. Come on over to truckstopusa! My screenname is EagleAce. http://www.truckstopusa.com/forums/index.php Hope to see you there!

It was a 9400 daycab model wise.International is ten times the truck a freightliner is! That is what I have now and despise the fact u cannot get the truck to pull past the 1600rpm mark and not go flat on power ,unlike my 97 would keep pulling like hell past that and not go flat throttle wise. The newer trucks have to many bs things I despise and the trk I have is a 05 and handles ok,turns good but sucks at traction even in loose gravel easy to get hung up even with locked differential.I think older trucks like what I had r better all around but, then again I had a daycab and a sleeper trk handles totally diff.

the ones I drove this summer were the 4300's; they were '06s. At driving school I'll be learning on Freightliners. My company leases nothing but Internatiionals for the medium and heavy stuff, The warehouse has two 8600 daycabs; they're basically a bigger version of the 4300.
