i heard there was a 1987 olds firenza gt with 2.8 i wonders what it look like anyone seen one or have picks of one
I looked at one a few years back. It was pretty rotted out so I passed on it. As I recall it was kinda like an Olds Z-24 if you can imagine that. Somewhere I have the 1987 Olds "performance machines" (or whatever they called them that year) brochure that has specs on it, the 442 and the Trofeo.

There's an old guy up the street with one, a silver HATCH with the 2.8 and automatic.
It has blacked-out trim and the FE3 sport suspension. SIlver with red emblems & decals. Very cool little ride. I'm going to offer him some cash for it someday

It's the rarest of all Jbodies. Olds made them to try to pick up Firenza sales but it didn't work, I think it was only made for the 1986-1987 years around the same time the z24 started selling. Cadillac, Chevy and Oldsmobile were the only three 1st gen jboby versions available with the 2.8 v6, Buick and Pontiac stuck with the turbo 4cylinders for their performance Jbodies. I've only seen one owned by an old lady who kept it in mint condition.
It's not the GT but it is the only 87-88 Firenza I could find. Can't imagine the GT looking that much different.
Except on a quick search this came up as Firenza GT and had a 2.8L V6 in it so I don't know if this is the car you where looking for.
Looks more like an F than a J body to me though.
Oh well I tried sorry.
Asta La Vista OHV!! Defined Parts
I have seen lot's of 4 door few 2 door and hatch but i have never seen a gt
thank for the info.

Thats the predecessor to the Jbody, the H-Body, They were also available with a sbv8.
It ain't a real GT, but it's the closest thing to a real one I've seen so far. 'Glass hood, sway bars, and dual exhaust.......works for me!

Yes, the 2.8 V Firenza was pretty rare, even back in the day. It had horizontal open slats for extra cooling, located in the header panel at the headlight level. The slats were in the same style as the standard slats in the lower portion of the header panel, just as wide.
There was a tire size upgrade- to the next aspect ratio. This made for a slighty wider, meat-ier look to the rubber. Rim diameter was the same as I recall.
I also recall that was an upgrade to FE3 suspension as a part of the package. Steering effort was higher. Handling was a bit more ponderous in the turns, but not terribly so.
I dualed with a Firenza V6 hatch, in my '85 Sunbird S/E Turbo hatch- he got me with his better torque.
oops- that should be 'the slats were NOT as wide'.....
there's a sunbird hatch on the way to work for me, but its pretty rusty, u guys think i should see if they wna get rid of it anyway?
Sorry.....

Hey, if anyone is out there, I happen to have one of these rare machines.
I came across one other in my life that was in better shape then mine at the time, but I doubt the young kid took very good care of his departed grandfathers 87 Firenza GT....
Anyways, I have the Oldsmobile Firenza GT 1987 FE3 model - Original rims need to be redone but I have them less the center caps (man those caps break easy...) - Also picked up a set of rims a few years back... Shame I can't easily post pictures in this forum. It was my college car from 2002 - 2006, have it in my backyard waiting on ... oh I figure $1000 in mechanical repairs... aside from that she's ready to go.
Made one mistake, I swapped the original power doors for new found manual doors in 2006, I didn't keep the old hardware, or interior... I truly regret that. New ones are black with I figure the standard non FE3 interior, the FE3 had a nice emblem with a strip of black leather like material.
2.8L Multiport V6
5 Speed Manual Transmission
FE3 Sport Package
I did repaint it, took a chance, I like it.
If anyone else has anything to say, hope to see a reply here one day. Not many of these out there, I may have one of if not the last one in my city.
I think... the best thing for this vehicle, would be somebody out there who wants to give an effort (it's all there, but it's aged... was cared for...220,000KMS, I did replace the engine, new engine has 139,000KMS... what can I say, body is in great shape, that's the best part - it's close to road worthy, what else do you want... I guess what I'm rambling about is 'd sell it, for a low yet fair price considering it's rareness... if you're that person let me know? - from the heart. ** Can email pictures **
Peace out internet! ?
Shane-
If you post a few pics you will have guys salivating on here. Just snap a few and load them to cardomain. You then cut and paste the properties info from cardomain into the picture link here.
You will get much better response that way.
Where in CA are you?
Shane,
Like Paul said, we would like to see pics of it. You could email them to me and I could post them for you.
John
