Welcome to the 1st Gens Brian!
Much to learn about them - you will discover a ton in the previous posts.
Regarding your mystery leak - please check both left and right drains underneath the cowl and make sure they are clear. It is a common problem on these and some have have been known to have rusted out at the firewall because of it.
This will show the passenger side. The Divers side is very easy to see.

Nice little walk around and description of your low cost acquisition. The one thing I noticed is your cranking to fire seems kind of slow.I would do some simple things like cleaning the ground cables, and making sure the voltage at the alternator and starter are a good 12.9 or higher. If it dips to like 12.6 on cranking verify this with a multimeter placed in sight while cranking. The reason I say 12.6 it could mean your charging system is lacking the proper cranking amps as TO me it was slow.Even though it fired up the normal GM sound way and idled up as it should the lag kind of got my attention. If you have any ?s about battery cables or checking any sensors just ask.I have owned my 85 cav for 16 years and have literally replaced every sensor on my engine aside from the tps,and iac.I back in march had to replace my fuel pump and sending unit and have a post specifically about that.Either way glad you show the enjoyment in the car as we do love our 1st gens here and not as many left even in the common junkyards today.Ok done for now just wanted point out something that to my ear that stood out when you started it.I do not know the service history on your ride but I would def replace the fuel filter.
thanks ron and i will im trying to learn everything i can about these cars i have a great mind on what im going to do to it i want to paint it black over silver with a red pinstripe and paint the chrome strip in the bumper trim red to accent the red pin stripe down the body line
