Lower Radiator Hose

I have the 1.8, non-turbo, and just bought new hoses.

For the lower hose, NAPA listed two hoses: one going from the radiator to a pipe, and another going from this pipe to the block.

Staring at it, I only see one hose; is the 2nd hose for someone with a turbo setup?

I still can't seem to find that sucker. I even pulled off the air cleaner today thinking it would be under there.

From the pic, i looks like it's near the belt on the passenger side of the car; but I just can't figure out where. Do you have a pic from further back? Is it maybe under the motor?

It is on the very back of the block by the firewall. I replaced mine when I had the heads off. You can see the rear body mount the picture.

On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.

That bugger looks like it is a bit difficult shoehorning into place....even with the head outta the way. Does that connecting pipe loosen up any to add some needed clearance?

Orlen-

Yes it loosens a bit. With the head off it is not that bad

Out playing with the toy today, can't see that hose at all with the engine completely together. Short of removing the head, I have no idea how to access that small hose. I even tried from under the car, but no luck.

Any thoughts?

Try unbolting the power steering pump and move it out of the way as much as you can , I think that might give you a fighting chance.......well, barely. I went back into my photos I took when I was changing out my rack. I barely had a shot of that hose. Bugger is buried under the intake man. Looks like PIA with a side of HOT salsa!!

If it helps any, it fits directly behind the water pump housing.

Strange, that block looks identical to a 2005 suzuki reno 2.0 block.

Orlen--

so glad you mentioned the water pump! No idea why I never thought of "well the coolant has to get to the pump area somehow"--big DUH on my part there.

Even replaced the pump last year when doing the timing belt because of all the crap to deal with when the pump would go bad. I figured I wasn't going to let a $35 part ruin my day two weeks after getting everything for the belt back together.

I'll stare at it again today, but removing that PS pump sounds like it would be the way to go (darn)
