I'm a FL resident, my vehicle is registered in FL but I'm insured in Maryland because I'm stationed here. I got a ticket last night for speeding( 54 in a 45 ). My question is what's the best way to go about taking care of this ticket so it doesn't show up on my insurance. Should I just send the money in? Appear at court? Someone was telling me about Probation before judgement, but I don't think I want to do community service just for 9 mph over.
I got a $140 ticket and 2 points for apparently doing a 48 in a 25 when I was realy only doing about 32-35. I had just turned on to a road and my car physically couldnt accelerate to 48mph that fast, and I wasnt even at WOT.
I went to court, only had to pay $25 and got no points. Plead guilty with an exuse, and make up some bs story if you have to.
Wow for what the cop is accussing you of he could had put you in jail for twice the speed limited. I have never been to court so this will be interesting to see how it turns out. So did you pay cash right there? How's the payment work? What county was it?
PBJ is simple doesn't involve any community service just dont get another ticket within 2 years of the PBJ cause that one will stick... PBJ just means you get a slap on the wrist...
F*ck Your Bolt-Ons Cut It P*ssy
Peanut butter and jelly? lol
Yea sometimes when their quota comes cops are real dicks and pull everyone over for any little thing. I actually had to pay $25 plus $25 court costs, but I didnt have to pay it cause my dad offered to pay it cause I told him what happened. One time they pulled my mother over saying she was doing a 48 in a 30, and my mother never even goes 3 miles over the speed limit.
I got probation so I cant get another ticket or Im screwed. Some of these dumb little fuc*ers around me have gotten 5+ tickets and some have lost their license, but idk it all depends on the cop you get realy.Im in Harford btw.
I had a lawyer here tell me that PBJ was community service. It sounds like just showing up and pleading guilty is the best option just to get it out of the way and hopefully not have it on my insurance.
90% of the time when you get a PBJ they will give you a day or 2 comm. servise.
why did you change your insurance to MD? you could of kept it in fl and it would be cheeper, im in md and my parents moved to ga 2 years ago and i had ga in. ever since :-)
I was told by my insurance companie whatever my address is that they are sending mail to which will obvious be Maryland that's where I have to have insurance at being that I don't live in FL anyone. It's suppose to be illegal from my understand to have insurance in anyone state when you don't live there.
What kind of community service is it? Would I have to wash a fire truck or something? lol! Man I'm just thinking about sending the money in which will be an easier way out.
I got hit a few years back. For doing 65 or something like that in 55 or that is what the cop put me down for. The fine was a whopping 50 bucks I think it was. I didn't get anything on my insurance or anything else because I wasn't a resident. I'm not sure how it will work for you being your insurance is in maryland.
I got picked up on 83 what I was living down in baltimore county for doing 88 in a 65. The cop told me to do PBJ and take it to court which i did and the fine with out it was like 300 and 3 point. took it to court and it was 140 which is better then 300. so i would take it to court as long as you wernt't a dick to the cop cause he will be there and tell the judge if you kind or a dick and then he will pass judgement. By the way it was with the court cost and all that bull the fine it self was 65.. so hope that helps...
What kind of PBJ did you do? So it never showed up on your insurance?

Was the cop there? I wonder if it would had been a lesser charge if you plead guilty. What was the fine originally?
the cop was not there. I had a lawyer though. That set me back another 100 bones.

I'm surprised they didn't dismiss it being that the cop wasn't even there.
depends on the judge...and having a good lawyer should be able to get you of with no points.
if you ask for pbj, you might still have to pay a little fine & court fee's, depending on the judge no points if it involves points. When I asked for pbj I got court fee's and driver improvement class with no points.
A lot of city/counties including MD authorities will designate an officer for the day whose job is to hang out at the courthouse and represent the officer involved in minor stops - I had this happen for the last two tickets I contested. They are given the notes and information of the officer involved and speak on his/her behalf, and this is usually sufficient for the judge/magistrate to consider the case. On the upside, because it's not always the same cop who pulled you over, they do not have have precise recollection of the situation. I argued that the cop who pulled me over actually tagged the car passing between me and his cruiser (which I think is true, which is why I contested it in the first place as it said I was doing 85 in a 55 when it was more like 60 in a 55) and the representative officer said he could not dispute that fact. Dropped my $300, 3-point moving violation, which I'd call a victory. Kinda off topic but kind of proves it's not essential for the cop to be there, and I know a couple people that have lost their case with no cop there.

Getting "better built" for the '08...
My ticket is only 54 in a 45. Do you even think it's worth fighting for? I went to a lawyer and he told me it wasn't that serious just ask for PBJ for the chances of it not coming up on my insurance. I may have to wash a fire truck for a day. lol
In my opinion; if it carries points then yes, if not then not really. I don't think you'd get community service, maybe have to sit for 6 hours in driver improvement at the worst. My pbj didn't show on my insurance...ultimately it's up to you...
