potential future plans/G2Gs
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 5:35 AM
so i'm thinking about potential stuff for the spring and summer.

i'd like to hit up an amusement park sometime in late May, or in June...possibly Hershey, because it's close and i haven't been there in about 7 years.

the RennFest schedule has been posted, as well, and i'd like to attend multiple weekends of that this year - Scruf and i will be dressed for the occasion, so if you want to go with us, keep that in mind.

i'd also like to hit up a park where fishing is allowed...Mariner Point is the nearest one i know of, though if people give ideas for parks where fishing is permitted, please speak up.

so, who's interested in these ideas? it's early enough in the season that we can reasonably plan things without threadjacking Josh's threads and having him have kittens over it.

for the record - i will be doing the above things with Scruf, and i'm welcoming others to join us. this is not something that i'm coordinating, nor is it something for which i will collect money. if you want to come or have interest, say so - otherwise, don't bother.

for the Renaissance Festival:

these are the two weekends i'm considering.

September 23rd & 24th: Adventure Weekend: Seafaring, pirates and the age of exploration.

The Renaissance was a time of discovery. This weekend we explore beyond the shores of England. Learn about life at sea. Hear stories of the great adventures. Experience music and dance from foreign lands. Eat, drink and be merry with delicacies from the sea. And of course, arrrghh matey - there be pirates!

Pirate costume contest for adults (16 and over) and children (0-15). Prizes will be awarded for the best pirate costume - head to toe. Time and location of contest will be posted shortly.

October 7th & 8th: Celtic Weekend: A Seven Nations Celebration.

Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Isle of Man, Galicia, and Cornwall make up the traditional seven Celtic nations. This weekend we celebrate the music, dance and traditions of all seven nations - with special focus on Galicia and Brittany.

please note, there is no open fire permitted at the Festival anymore, since last year's incident where two guests were burned thanks to their own stupidity.

for Hershey/other amusement parks, and for the state parks, everything's negotiable.

Some of my friends are going to Williamsburg for the last weekend in July and we will be going to Busch Gardens. We will be leaving on Friday night and returning on Sunday. The more the merrier!

Kim - it's pretty much up for negotiation, as long as it's on a Friday or Saturday. Saturday seems to work better for most folks, so i assume that would be the day we'd go. i just gave a general timeframe for it.

Steph - same deal...if it's a friday/saturday, i'm game. i can't make any definite plans for it yet, but i'll keep it in mind.

WOW Hershey tickets have gone up.

regular admission is $41.95/head - so, i guess, save up for it. i might see if Mike and i can go together, and from there we'll figure out more details.

for the record(and for my memory), Regular single day admission, if purchased online, is $39.99/head at Kings Dominion. i won't even consider Six Flags, after all the crap that happened in the parking lot last season.

Yeah parks are going up big time!!! Well I guess someone choose a weekend. Saturday is better for me, I can't take time off work because of the shows I'm doing this summer and a few days off for OC. Then Miami and Japan in the winter!!!

Laura, what crap happened in the Six Flags parking lot?

Wow, yeah I'm a little out of it lol! I never really liked 6 Flags, besides it's in a bad area!

I know it's kinda far away, but it would be cool to go around Halloween time. When I went to Kings Dominion 2 yrs ago it was so much fun! I guess something to think about in the far furture!

Alright, I'm just coping and pasting my show schedule. Now if you guys want to go one weekend I can't feel free!

May 20th - HIN Atlantic City, NJ
June 10-11th - OC Car and Truck Show
July 29-30th - NOPI Atco, NJ
August 5-6th - FMF Ocean City, MD
August 19-20th - FMF Myrtle Beach, SC
August 26-27th - NOPI Budds Creek, MD

I thnk we're staying the week after the OC show in June.

Also another idea, I was talking to Jim the other day about how fun the ghost hunt was last year. Would anyone be down for another? I got a few friends who wanted to do something.

there's also Hyperfest at Summit Point in July...

(copied/pasted from another forum...)

white2kgt wrote: I know it is a little ways off but this is a pretty big event. NASA host the Hyperfest at Summit Point. It's a pretty big spectator event with the following events going on through the weekend,
US Drift Nationals
NASA Road Racing
Hyper Show Off
Shot Gun Rides
Hyper Drives
Rice-Rice Challenge
Daredevil Throwdown
Rollover Contest
Daisy Duke Contest
Concert
Vendors
I'll be racing in the NASA Road Racing in American Iron. NASA also does HyperDrives which is one session with instructor around Summit Point (Jefferson Circuit) for hot laps, no speed limits for $40. They also are doing normal HPDE's on the main track (where the racing will be) if interested. Cost for spectator is $20 at the gate.

So if you aren't doing anything that weekend you really should come check it out, most everyone here is only about 1.5-2hrs from Summit Point. If you have any questions about joining in the HPDE's just let me know. I did them for 3 years before starting racing with this group and they are a blast.

Yeah 6 flags had a shoot out in the parking lot between two groups of people. One was a fan of the tilt-a-whirl and the other loved the scrambler. Mayham insued when the two met up and got to argueing over which is better.
Tilt-a-whirl! BAM!!
Scrambler! BAM, BAM!!
Tilt-a-whirl! BAM, BAM, BAM!!
Scrambler! BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM!!

I'm sure you get the idea.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
