New Police Car warning:
Tuesday, February 07, 2006 2:26 PM
One of my delivery drivers had a stop at the Howard County central garage and said that he saw them installing lights in the grills of 3 different Cobalt SS's. A blue one a silver one and a red one. All three cars had stickers / grafix up both sides of them and tinted windows. I can not confirm this to be 100% correct but if you travel in or thru Howard County I would recomend you use caution if you see any of these vehicle.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

Street racers ARE criminals.

MD police have been doing stuff like that for awhile, and gosh...it's legal. imagine that.

Re: New Police Car warning:

get your self-rigeous crap outta here. street racers are no criminals when compared to drug dealers, rapists, and murderers, many of which are still at large, and deserve their police attention.

not to say im a racer, cuz im not, well, kinda. i race to the speed limit, maybe 65-70 tops. usually by then im dead anyway

just kida pisses me off when people pass off their opinions as fact. street racing may be illegal...but there are much worse people to catch than a bunch of car enthusiasts.

thats just the way i sees it.

How about you stop your self-righteous whining? Unfortunately for the veracity of your little rant, in this case, my opinion IS FACT. Street racing is illegal. When you "do something illegal", you are "breaking the law". When you "break the law", you can be called a "criminal". Scroll up and look again. I said "Street racers ARE criminals". Not much grey area there to speak of.

Never once did any of us say that there aren't WORSE crimes or criminals than street racing. I stated a simple fact...street racers are criminals...being elevated to felony status in some states JUST for racing, without even a hint of hurting someone. As it should be. @!#$s should lose their licenses AND their cars. Don't worry, that's coming too.

I guess pointing out the obvious on this site is just too inflammatory. So go cry about it.

Re: New Police Car warning:

so then who's worse? a rapist, a child molestor, or a murder? If we go by what your saying, a cop would have to determine whos the worse of those and go after them. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal. If your racing, a cop isn't going to not stop you because your not a murderer or a rapist. You are a potential murderer and a threat to society by endangering not only your lives but other people's lives and it is a police officers job to keep the streets safe. This is why cops have special "task forces". You have your basic traffic patrol, whos job is to get speeders, racers, etc etc etc, NOT look for rapists. Then you have things like detectives, homicide, yadda yadda yadda. My father is a NY State Trooper and was put on radar duty for a year. That means he did nothing but sit and catch speeders. Yea, he works on a busy highway, but you can't say "thats dumb, he should be looking for worse people", because I don't see or hear of many drug dealers dealing in the middle of a 3 lane highway where he works

Also, being a car enthusiast is one thing. You don't have to street race in order to be a car enthusiast. Street racing is a crime, if you do it, you will get caught, ticketed, arrested, whatever. The people doing it know it's illegal. I personally would rather catch a street racer before I catch someone dealing a little pot on a corner somewhere (thats where Narcotics comes in...)

Re: New Police Car warning:

it's only entrapment if he DOES start it... driving a spiffy car around doesn't make you a street racing solicitor... around my house, there's a strip called Ritchie Highway where a lot of street racing used to go on... not sure if it still does, I don't frequent the time/place i used to. Anyway, point is, if they pull up to a light, rev the piss out of it and start inching to the light, thats entrapment in MD because revving at a light next to another car is actually considered "attempting to engage in a contest of speed". If he leans out the window at a red light and says, "at green, I'm going... " Thats entrapment. There's supposedly a cop who drives around on Ritchie with a green mustang with a loud exhaust and a lopey idle... all he does is drive around waiting for some fool to race him off a light just cuz he has a souped up car. Then he nails them. I find it quite amusing since I don't street race.

But thanx for the warning, Terry... I'll be sure to keep an eye out for 'em.

Oh, no, I thought I was safe as long as I didn't visit the VS forum! Loks like all you guys here have to do is argue all day about street racing. Can't we just all get along? I thought that's what you guys have the VS forum and the war forum for.

Mmmmm, boost.

Actually have to agree with JimmyZ and SteveH. very rarely do I get allong with JimmyZ but it is a crime regardless. Sure there is worse crimes. But Street racing can very quickly escalate to vehicular Manslaghter.

This is why they make tracks

hey Night Train... why not just bugger off and not read it... why do people consistantly and repetitively forget that nobody is obliged to read ANYTHING posted on ANY online forum... if you see it turning into a discussion (or argument as you see it) about something you're not interested in, go away... not too hard... a simple flick of the wrist and a few mouse clicks and your back in your own cozy backyard reading what doesn't step on your toes...

For the people that always say don't the cops have anything better to do....think about it. They put lights on 3 Cobalts. That's at the most 6 cops. When was the last time you heard of a town that had enough money to buy 6 new cobalts have only 6 cops. I am pretty sure the rest are out there getting the other criminals.

Re: New Police Car warning:

Please no fighting. I only posted this as a warning to anyone who comes to Howard County.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

Re: New Police Car warning:

the police is divided into seperate units, and those units handle different cases.....like some handle murders, others handle drugs, the patrol officer's handle all traffic laws.....so the police officers that are going to be driving these Cobalt SS's are patrol officers.

The massachusetts State Police have a Red Camaro that is used to transport organs and things that are needed in a rush, but they also use it catch street racers along the mass pike.

Because this was a topic that interested me and so I chose to read it. I'm realizing though, only a few days here, that this site must be full of whiny children. No forum here is civilized, and everything turns into a big pissing match. I joined expecting to chat with other people who like Cavaliers (or sunfires ) and swap stories and info like normal people do on just about every other forum I frequent. Now I'm beginning to see why all of my peers scoff at me driving a Cavalier when this is what the typical Cavalier owner is like. Maybe I'll take your advice and just not post here. One would think that people with a similar interest would be able to get along much better than this. You all have a little growing up to do though it seems.

Did you think maybe it was meant to be sarcastic??

Actually I was telling a friend who lives off 50 about this. He says hes seen a gold Corolla that pulls people over down there. So just watch out for one on 50 I guess!

Actually I didn't, after he made this comment:
Quote:

I figured that he still had a lot to learn...I mean, come on, the Cobalt is an overrated, overpriced piece of plastic @!#$. Why would I buy that POS when I can get a Mustang GT with 2x the horsepower for the same price that could blow it out of the water?

But could you please stay on topic and let him respond to me, Im sure he is grown enough to do so without your help.
