Just a heads up to all NEW JERSEY DRIVERS
Thursday, July 14, 2005 6:37 PM
Starting July 12th New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy.

The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets.

1 million will go to pay state troopers over time. There will 50 state troopers
on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways.
They are the following:

I-295--north and south
I-95--(Jersey Turnpike) north and south
I-80--east and west
I-287--north and south
I-78--east and west
I-280--east and west
Rt. 195--east and west
Rt. 130--north and south
Garden State Parkway--north and south

Warning for everyone: Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and
every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10
minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers
and they are bringing in all their part timers on full time.

THIS WAS SENT TO ME BY A FRIEND WHO HAS FRIENDS/FAMILY IN THE New Jersey State Trooper Police Force. So be Careful!

Thank you so much Kathy. I actually called NJ state police and they verified this is true that they are looking for more ways to bring money into NJ to help out our law enforcement. They also feel that this is a way to keep us all safer because speeding causes accidents.

I guess if speed kills I should go buy a honda.

ok first of all that goes against the princple of a police officer. "serve and protect" not "fund raising and protect" There are other ways to generating money besides pulling people over. tell those lazy asses to have a baking sale.

thats why jersey sucks. sorry if it offends anyone but i hate this state. im working on saving up to move out back to the philly area. a few months ago they did the same type of thing but for seatbelts. it was like a week long thing where they just pulled people over left and right for not wearing seatbelts.

Why are you all complaining? Obey the law and their wont be any problems...simple as that. Accept the fact that if you speed, there will be consequences. End of story.

Ha that's a funny one steph.

First of all who really obeys the law 100%? Second off is the law really there to protect us or to help collect money?

I know some laws are for protection but not all of them. Like for instance they decide to raise the speed limit because it is now considered that newer cars can travel 65 just as safe as they did 55 but on the other hand they say now they have to double the fines because of this precious gift of the 10 MPH. Or the law that states if you don't have your license, registration, or insurance on you that you have to pay over $500 in fines, no matter if you have them at home or not. I can go on and on about how the law is just to help the state and not to help the people. I don't think most of the country is like this because no where else that I've been has ever mentioned this type of experience but this is what we deal with. And plus I've had it many times where I obeyed the law and they still find a way to give you a ticket.

Here is a for instance: about two months ago I turned onto the highway next to my house and accelerated up to highway speeds, well you kind of have to if you don't want to get run over. But the cop sitting at the corner I guess didn't turn on his radar till it was to late or something and pulled me over for approaching 50 MPH in under 5 seconds (keep in mind that I am 100% stock on the motor and I know that no cavalier can do this that is stock). So I come to find out that accelerating up to 60 in under 4 or 5 seconds counts as a reckless driving and that for hitting 50 in 5 seconds can be careless driving. So to let me go he just gave me a ticket for not having my seat belt on when I handed him my insurance/registration/license even though I had it one when he pulled me over, and he gave me a ticket for my radar detector being in obstruction of my view, mean while it wasn't plugged in and just sat on the dashboard. So instead of getting points I get to walk away with over $200 in fines that I can't fight in court.

Hell if I did fight it in court for walking in the door you instantly have to pay $60, plus the minimum fee they ever drop it down to is $40 so that is an instant $100 and you have to sign your life away that if you get pulled over 3 times in 3 years that they have the right to double all fines on your tickets including any points affecting your license. This system is no longer innocent until proven guilty it is just a form of economical breakdown where everyone needs money, cops have a grudge from being the kids that where picked on in high school and now want to get back at everybody, and the government not giving two @!#$s what happens as long as they get money in the end.

Hell how many people know that there is actually a law in NJ that states if you have anything on or in your car that does not come from or is authorized by the manufacturer that it is illegal, and yes that goes even as far as your windshield wipers or the bulbs you use. I'm surprised they don't pull me over because GM didn't authorize the fuel in my car.

In the end I am against the police force the way they are now and think we need to get new form protection similar to the way it was designed to be when this country was founding itself.

Im not saying that you should or should not obey, but as a responsibility of owning a vehicle and having a drivers liscense you have to be willing to accept the consequences of breaking the law.

Believe it or not, the law is there for both reasons.

tickets are like a kid dressed as a cop on halloween... that cop is suppose to protect you but in the end he takes your candy..........lol

i think the anuall income of tickets in the county grosses 113 billion dollars...... i think it is safe to say police fund more than them selves with that

this is why I need the supra running because I don't think even the camaro pursuit cars will be able to keep up... other than that whole radio thing but yea =P

anyway, speeding on the parkway is mandatory. everyone does it, and its the only way to get anywhere reasonably fast

how bout they stop embezzling money to go on vacation in hawaii so they don't have to make us pay more to the state. we already pay enough in taxes don't we? they always want more...
