hey guys just wanted to let everyone in pa know to watch out....
sunday night on my way back through the backside of hanover i got pulled over...
well i was puzzled at the time becuase i wasn't doing anything wrong.
well come to find out my windshield banner is illegal, any winshield banner on the top of u windshield is illegal, even though i bought my fire with one on it from the factory that said sunfire?
now u can have one at the bottom of your windshield but cant be any higher than 3" or the back windows.
now the cop gave me a repair order, either i remove it with in 5 day(by fri.) and bring it in or recieve a fine, not sure what im gonna do yet. but i thought i would let everyone know and please post any comments for everyone else to read and your personal experiences....
sorry for such a long post everyone.
THis is making me hate PA more and more. The stupid little @!#$ things! Can't do this can't do that Well @!#$ you! haha I think we need to start making doing some @!#$ to help "us" This way were not getting the shaft all the time. And if it is factory like that they can't do anything about that! Anything that came factory Is legal! But if it didn't comfactory be prepared to bust your ass to make sure you keep it legal.
i thought they were ruled illegal awhile ago?

not sure. had never heard of it. But glad i did cause my cops in my town suck. But I think we all need to organize and do some pettions for things. Cause it is getting rediculous. I know the requirment that makes it look really good for something like a pettion is being registered to vote. but I think anyone that owned a car would work as well. That added I vote and can take your ass out of office we get enough in a certian area has a good effect to.
Im moving to NY.lol
I hate Pa also,To much stuff they are taking a way from us.
Spence - i consulted with Scrufdog, and he agrees - he was under the impression it has been illegal. sounds like you guys need to read up on what's legal and what isn't in your state.

i hope you dont pay it or remove the banner. its a bs ticket. there are marks on the windshield that have a certain point that things have to stop. its used alot of tint. they make the eyebrow up top on the windshield above the marks. if your banner isnt below those marks i wouldnt remove it. ive had a banner on my windshield for 2 years now (i was living in pa for 1 1/2 of those years) just fight it, you'll win
Yeah, I understand the reading part. But when you have 100 things you can't do to your car. Heck the first inspection place was having a fit cause my car wasn't OEM. And I didn't have bumper lights. When I have spotted a dozen cars that only have headlights with corner lens that don't wrap around that far. i'm sick of taking the BS that state has been doing to ppl. We can't tint our windows, we can't have banners on our cars or atleast on the top part of the window. Hell if they wanted to be real pricks they could probably find something in the laws sayin' we can't have a body kit. Unless it came that way from the factory. Actually did you know you can't install anything other than stock parts on your car. Unless you have a "R" title? I was actually asked if my car has a "R" title. i'm just getting fed up with it.
I guess it depends on where you live in this state.... Cops around here don't bother us too much about the front or back window stickers or even the tint anymore.

Correct, but its always been like this. Nothing can be below the VS1 Line.
If it is above that line I would fight it.

From a dealership? Again I would fight it IF it was above the line, I know many shops around here that do vinal, have something posted in store as, "if you get a banner such in such high or low and get busted it's not our fault"

That link isn't working for me, but the one i have bookmarked with the /index at the end does,
http://www.pacode.com/index.html, so if if anyone else has that problem, maybe the one i posted will work for them too.
Spence man, it seems like you're a bit too worked up over this. You should seriously look into finding something else to obsess on. You CAN tint windows, you CAN put up a banner if you're a vinyl freak, you CAN do a lot, but within the way the law is set up which is within reason.

You actually feel safe without corner lights? Have you ever seen how hard a car with no corner lights is to see at night? Let me guess, you also have already or want to in the future disable your drl's because they also make it possible for other drivers to see you better? Probably the only thing making your car visible at night to people who see it from the side is your unpainted kit, sad. I'd be interested in seeing 100 pictures of these cars around where you live with no side marker lights. If a light wraps around a little bit, at least there is light shining out of the side of the car to make it visible. Have you seen how small side markers are on a Sunfire? Guess what, it makes the car WAY more visible than one without. Why the workup over not being able to be a traveling hazard?
Sight-N-Sound wrote:its the same link. In mine the html code was messed up because I missed the "." after the www.
its
www.pacode.com
if people wern't so lazy they could just type it in, instead of everything having to be a working link
Ok, just saying that it didn't work. It visually looks like a working link, the way it is typed out works and in fact if you copy & paste it, it also works. Why do that work though if there's a REALLY simple way to make it clickable for other people? You thought it would be nice yourself seeing how you tried to do it
Word to the wise though, Dave has been taking away some of the html and it will be phased out all together at some point. If you put a simple < and > at each end of the web address it turns to a clickable link. You can also use the buttons at the top of the input box for posting, which will translate what you want to what the JBO is moving to, forum code. You can read more about it
here.
Hey Chris (J body Customs) give me a shout I am a state inspector and have my Emmision liicense also give me a shout I can answer your question if you want thanks.
In the pa inspection book it says you can have on the top of the windshield it just cant come down more than 3 inches and its suppose to be transparent.
I have an RKSport banner on the top of my windshield, never got bothered once for it. Not even when I got pulled over for speeding a few weeks ago. Most cars have a line that shows where a banner cant go past, however mine doesnt so maybe thats why. But in York I never heard of anyone getting pulled over for a banner...
that stinks man hows the car comming with the body kit. Get it all fixed up and fitted now? Got any newer pics of it. Im still undecided blitz or drift ugh.
Dave Senlick Got any more pics of ur car its looking sweet.
I never said I didn't have side markets or corner lens! I said I didn't have Bumper LIghts. There is a big diffrence between the 2. read what it said:

And the cars I spoted with them being like that were factory. Also if you happened to look at my car. Other than my car domain as well as my sig. You will notice my kit is PAINTED. Don't go giving me @!#$. I'm very worked up over @!#$ cause we always get the blunt of @!#$. Some ppl try to make things to be legal but turn around and get hammered for some other thing. I can see pluses to tint and minus to it. But if other states permit it then it can't be all that bad can it? It helps prevent thefts it helps keep the vehicle interior better looking. And prevents fading from the sun.
yeah man got the rear like almost totally perfect other than under pass. taillinght and sticks out on the pass. side like a 1/16"
came a long way so far cant wait to get it all done
and from what I have always heard any tint other than factory is illegal in PA. I'm obessed with the fact that there isn't anything you can do with car with out being immediately classified as a punk or a trouble maker. Not sure how it is in other areas atleast it is how it seems up here in my neck of the woods
