Cheswick - Harmar area here..
Thanx will do just that. There does not seem to be many real f-body or j-body get to gethers in Pittsburgh. There is a local Fire-Cam club, but I just run the WS6 during the summer and fall months and with the rain the last 2 years, have not driven it too much. Bottom line is did'nt make it to any of their meets.

Pittspeed is a pittsburgh enthusiest board. Mainly it is all racing, but is slowly expanding to the show aspect and such. There is a huge fbody preasence, along with a huge mustang presents then it is filled in with VW's, Imports and domestic compacts. We usually have a big meet during world of wheels in a few weeks. Frirday night we usually go some where like hooters or a place where uder 21ers can get in and eat and hang out. Then this year saturday I think is being researved for the strop district and drinking.
Then troughout the year they attend races, and shows. I have made a lot of friends there locally. My wife even helps the owner whitey (john white) out with coding. It has gotten really big and popular.

I will try to stop by North Park on the 19th. Hopefully it will not be raining or snowing. I assume most of you all will be driving J-body's.. I will have my Sunfire. My buddy was asking if anyone could stop by. He drives a 5.0 Mustang and has a 1990 300ZX TT as well. I am very interested in what can be done to a 2.2 Ecotec based car. It seems that the aftermarket is not yet very big for these cars, much like the early LS1 market.
For the 2.2 Ecotec?.......Its not bad, actually. There are now turbo's/superchargers available, and of course intakes, headers, exhausts, short-throws, body-kits, etc. The list is growing daily. Stock : 140hp/150ftlb torque, and the new Colbalt is upped to 145hp.

Well, mine will just have to stay stock for now as it is under warranty. I am suprised how this engine has loosened over the first 1600 miles. It really is a world of difference from the old 4 bangers of the 70's and early 80's. It makes quite a bit of power for what it is. Anyone see 170-180 HP N/A yet?
Its definately possible. One of the kids in my club (he's also here on J-body) has a Sunfire with a buttload of engine work into it. He hasnt had a chance to dyno it yet.....here, this is all of his info from the members page of the site.....i'll list it for him:

Automatic Transmission
RK Sport Upper Mount
RK Sport Lower Mount
Custom 2.25" Cat-Back Exhaust

Autotrans Interceptor

Looks like all nice bolt on stuff. These Eco's then respond well to exhaust, intake tract and suspension mods?.. How do you think his car would run against an 1.8T GTI for example(on the track)? I am trying to gauge the cost/performace level and where the wall is N/A. Has anyone gone inside this engine yet with aftermarket internals or developed a nice cylinder head for these engines(outside of GM) and is there software like HP Tuners or LS1 Edit for J-body cars to tune the combination(s)? I saw some of the stuff for the 2.4's and earlier 2.2's. On another note, with the increasing popularity of LS1 swaps, has anyone attempted to swap an LS1/LS6 setup into a Cav or a Sunfire? I did see the 454 Cav on Ebay..
Keith Marshall - Sorry man, I did not intend to hijack your thread..
Not sure how he'll do up against a 1.8t. You figure they have 180hp and 173lbs-ft torque, so if the ecotec is pumped up enough, its possible. Tony from New Dawn Customs has a Vortech supercharged 04 cavy and its pushing between 230-250hp. I dont beleive there is any software available yet....but i havent looked into it. No one I know has the know-how or money to do an LS1/6 swap either, but i'm sure with the right amount of time/money...anything can be done.

My WS6 is OBDII too. I am really suprised there is nothing for the J-body cars yet. There are many more Cavs and Sunfires on the road than Camaros and Firebirds. It seems that there is an ever increasing interest in the Ecotec engine as it develops, so I would think there would be a market for tuning software like an LS1 edit or HP Tuners package that would allow individuals to make changes to the ECU for the modifications installed.

One big issue with that. WS6 is a performance car and the J-body is ment to be an entry level grocery getter , but we treat them like a screwdriver IE 1 listed use, 17 unlisted uses
