Gauging interest - parting out soon.
Monday, December 07, 2009 11:33 AM
Sad to say the end of my Sunfire is near. The mechanicals are failing, it's a time bomb. That being said, I will be attempting to return to stock with a sickness in my stomach over the whole deal
What I would be looking to get rid of would be...

1. RK Sport ram air hood with evil eyes fiberglassed
It needs stripped down & repainted if you want it to look perfect, the paint wasn't done right & now there's a large chip & a bubble of clear came off. My plans back in the day were to put strobes & neon in the scoop, which I did have for a short time, so there were access holes cut on the underside. The guy doing the work for me lost the parts he cut out, then he flaked out and we stole the hood back from him unfinished. I've had it looked at by a body shop, it's repairable, but I've also been driving it like this for about 6 years & there's no issue other than visuals.

2. Suspension
Road magnets & dspecs. I bought these off Bubbaknox back in late November '07 with low miles on them. The rear driver's side blew out & replaced it with new in May/June '08. The car is driven mostly to work & back & to the gym, which is about 13 miles a day, 5 days a week. I'd say there's less than 15,000 miles on it.

Height compared to hubby's stock height '01 GT

3. Wheels & tires
RSL Elite in titanium, 17x7 with 40mm offset. Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. Hub rings & black chrome lugs with a lock would go with them. They're mint, no rash or scrapes. They were put on in July of '08, driven 2 seasons, off for the winters. The tires did really well for me in the rain, handle well around corners & are still very full of life. Like I said, I don't drive this car much more than 13 miles a day, if that.

4. Trunk lid with Tiburon wing
This was professionally mounted, all stock holes were welded shut perfectly. The posts were reshaped to fit the Sunfire & it looks like it came ready to go right on, you can't tell it was modified at all. I will only take a trade for a stock black trunk plus some cash on this.

5. Tail lights with Trans Am style honeycomb overlay
The vinyl shop that installed the honeycomb for me did such a good job back in spring of '03, I hate to peel it off! It's on there like day one after all the winters this car has seen. I've had many people ask how I put the honeycomb on there, it's not obvious that it's just vinyl on top of the light. I'd trade these lights for stock with some cash.

Pics of the car can be seen in these threads:
When it was lowered
When it got the wheels
Random pics from a trip out

I can take fresh pics of how she's sitting right now dirty in the driveway if anyone wants to see something specific. The wheels are still on right now, not being driven until they can come off this week since we got our first snowfall just the other day.

Feel free to pm me or email at the address listed in my profile. I also keep messengers open most of the time, leave a message if I'm set to away since I rarely change my online status. If there's little interest, I'll keep driving her as she is or maybe post things up on Craigslist. Thought I'd toss it out here first though, maybe it'll motivate me to follow through and actually do it

Hate to see this happen. Prices on the hood wheels and suspension. You looking to trade for stock parts??

Make me an offer. For the hood, it's a tough thing since I will probably not see what I want for it honestly, but I'm curious to hear what an offer might bring. Stock parts aren't needed unless it mentions that I need them, like the lights & trunk. So no to the hood & suspension.

Really don't want to go that route. Also, I will not be shipping anything, so it would make for a very, very long drive!

Looking for about $600. They've got about 10,xxx miles tops, as mentioned above, I don't drive this car often. It actually sat about a month or two at one point too while saving to fix the suspension and they were off for the winters. That includes the $80 black chrome lugs and the hub rings, which I think were about $20.

Everything is 100% for sale. Located in Lancaster, PA zip code 17603. Nothing will be shipped.

Road Magnets & Dspecs (low miles) = $400
Wheels/Tires/Hub Rings & Lugs (mint) = $600
RK Ram Air Hood W/Eyelids (paint not perfect) = $450

The hood & wheels are sitting & ready to go. The suspension is still on, will be removed if anyone shows me the money.

These aren't moving fast, if you get monies together, these could still be here. I'm hoping spring time brings the modding itch out and someone will grab them!

meckster wrote:and that hood is proudly sitting inside of my apartment at the moment

So glad! It was easier letting go knowing it was going to a good home. I feel like it's the end of an era, that was the first step I took into modding a car back in 2002! I thought I was going to cry when it went away, but no tears, I'm excited to see it finished

Red03fire wrote:What kind of drop am i looking at on that suspension setup?

It's about 2.25" or a little less I think. I have exactly 4" clearance to the air dam. It is sold, but I haven't been able to get it off the car because of weather conditions. I won't write it off as officially sold until the money & parts exchange, but it's "sold."
