Need some help with header install
Wednesday, February 04, 2009 3:19 PM
Anyone in the Pittsburgh area willing to help with a header install? I had it at midas and they pretty much said they didn't want to touch it. The head bolts are slightly rusted and they didn't want to risk breaking them off. If they did break they said I would be looking at hourly rates after that which could reach 8+ hours. Also the bends are welded solid to the header and a flex pipe was installed. This would need to be cut off and somehow fixed to accept the new header.

If anyone can weld, remove some rusted head bolts and install a header... and is willing to help me out please let me know. The install needs to be done in an evening or on a weekend because I need to get to work somehow. I will pay you for your time.

Just a tip, soak all the bolts in pb blaster the day before you do the install. Will make things much easier.

Well, sorry for the lack of follow through... I had to head out of town. A family friend picked the car up and is putting the header on. Some place in Marianville, up near Clarion. The same shop that installed the kit and painted it. Thanks for the interest and offer to help. I would be up for a meet sometime when I get the car back.
