factory alarm?

i found that my 01 z24 has an alarm system that seems to be still connected (except for the siren) but the last owner said nothing of this to me and therefore NO remotes. the main control box has the label GM Accessories. so i was wondering if anybody knows if i can still get remotes for this or should i forget about it and get a whole new alarm system. let me know what you guys think.

first of all this should be in the audio & electronics forum... you should use the regional forums for local gatherings and local for sale ads (that are too big to put in a box and ship)

but to answer your question, you can get new remotes from the GM Dealer... they run about 50 bucks and then need to be programmed... your cooler dealerships won't charge you to program, but some of them will...

However, no Z24 came with a siren. The factory alarm consists of a panic button, and when the car is armed, if someone attempts to open the door it will set the horn off after a few warning beeps... The alarm does not have a shock sensor, nor has an immobilizer (starter kill, etc), and can be dearmed by sticking the key in the ignition and turning to start the car,

Additionally, when locking and unlocking the car, the alarm flashes the Day Time Running lights in the front... nothing flashes in the rear. and when locking the car, if you push the lock button twice or more, it chirps the horn.
