how does a vette win at hot IMPORT nights. it's not even remotely close to that of an import nor tuner image.

but its a gm and in the gm class. soooooo not to mention the quality of the car. as an example. the owner of the corvette also had a jaguar compete and win its class and also had a subaru wrx compete and win its class. so there was money in it.

Ive been emailing the head guy at HIN about rules and points trying to figure out how i got scored so low. 109 out of a possible 250 .and found out things like undercarriage i got no points on even thought the gas tank and rear frame rail is painted silver and flamed to match the car. well apparently if you dont have a wheel pulled off the car and sitting on a wheel stand then you get 0 points for undercarriage even though the judge can see the work done. i thought that was a dumb rule. and i got a 1 out of 5 for tires. basically i was told if i had toyo's i would ahve scored in the 3 or so range and if i wanted a 5 i should get dunlaps. i thought that was somewhat screwed up as well. same goes for wheels. basically even though their somewhat wider then the norm for a stock sunfire and fit right and are brand new i didnt score as much, now if i had imported wheels from overseas that were the same size and quality that i had now i woud have scored near the top. they seem to basically just score you on rare parts which is so jdm yo. just allot of diffrent things that they judge way diffrently then pretty much most car shows out there.

Damnnn Jason, only 109? Yea i guess you need TOP of the line products.. But since freakin when does the TYPE of products you got on your car mean something? I thought it was all about the Quality of what you had that made the difference? Man, I bet I would of only scored like 50 points or something if you only got 109.. Thats messed up.

funny thing is, i have the 2008 rulebook and when it talks about undercarriage it doesn't state that the tire has to be off the car.

not to take away from everything it is that you do, jason, but this is exactly the reason why i sold my "showcar" and bought a performance-based car. My cavalier was never at the level your sunfire is, but i still felt like i got screwed quite often at shows. The judging is just too inconsistant from one show to the next, and its hard to know what it is that they want to see and meet their expectations. I love going to shows to see the cars... but I've pretty much decided the competitive element of car shows is a gigantic waste.

in general the majority of shows i go to i feel are pretty fair. this is just a new show for me and diffrent rules then what you normally see at the standard show. but then again you also have to remember that they are having to judge cars with $300,000 worth of modifications to them. so the scale to get points is going to be harder. i disagree with some of the stuff they do but you have to differentiate between say a nice set of wheels and a nice set of wheels that has been color matched to the car and specially bulit for the car and all that jazz.

and with everything else you find the shows that are crap and you just dont go back to them and you stick with the shows that are good.
