it says 75 dollar relay lol. I think He got @!#$ SCREWED on that. They cost about 5 bucks.
But i think your the rookie. Some units, like the jensen dont work by grounding out the pink wire. Which is why you need the relay. Think before you speak
acutally yes they do hmmmmm how do i know because i have one..... thats how i have had mine hooked up for over a year.... wait thats how both mine are hooked up in my truck and in my cav.... want pics and also..... think before you speak better yet read before you speak there was an edit on ebay to where he stated the relay was 35 not 75.... i also had my pioneer in dash dvd for the screens in the headrest of my jeep grounded out the same way..... ive owned more systems then i can count i know a good deal about them

The VM-9411 you can't ground. I tried every ground in my car until I found out you have to buy the relay.
did you try gounding it to the brake light that comes up when your e brake is engaged??? its the light thats on your cluster

A ground is a ground. Why would grounding it to the brake light that comes up when your e brake is engaged ( whatever the @!#$ that means) make any difference.

^^ send signal saying ebrake is up. some dvd tvs only will work when the ebrake is on....being that the car is stopped while its on. i guess so it cant distract you. even though it works with just one click up...but then you get lights in the dash. the point is that it makes it work while driving, and sometimes grounding a wire does the trick...sometimes not. in the case it doesnt but there is a relay that will make it so no worries.

I wasnt arguing over the @!#$ price of the relay. I was simply stateing that it was @!#$ way to much money. 35 or 75 doesnt matter, its still to much @!#$ money for a relay.
Now im glad you know so much, however, I have a new Pioneer, and it doesnt work that way, and i know lots of people who have Jensen's and its the same thing for them. Once people started to just ground out there Head units, Manufactuers starts adding extra precautions. One is that if the HU sees ground when it starts up, then it disables to the DVD player, that way you cant just ground it out. So you can use a relay or a switch. Argue all you @!#$ want, but your wrong. He used the relay for a reason. But sence youv owned so many systems you should have known that huh...

^^^^^^this is correct i have a pioneer 5700dvd in my blazer and i tried just hooking it to a ground and it defaulted and would not play...i ended up hooking it to a toggle switch and i have to just flip it on and off and then i am fine to watch the screen while the vehicle is in motion

the ebrake light comes on when you pull the parking brake..... which surplies the ground to the system. go grounding ot th the ligh is same as grounding it to anything else. They are right a ground is a ground.
The way my alpine is setup you have to hold the brake pedal and cyclce the parking brake up and down eventually leaving it enganged and then release the brake pedal and the dvd will work anytime you want. My way around it was the wire going to the parking brake, is just striaght to gorund with an on/off toggle switch, hold the brake pedal and flip the switch a few times and your set.
i have the same dvd player, i tried to whole grounding thing and it stumped me, so i figured out there is a sequence, so i ran it to a push pull switch and i pull out, push in, and pull back out on the switch and u can watch as u drive...pretty weird
