Yea we are having so much fun too. David I pulled the 2.4 harness yesterday and cut up the teal Z to make it a little easier for us the weekend! Also it is a little easier the 2nd time you pull everything. Plus I got the Saw-Za (I don't know how to spell it) and cleaned up the front end huh...
All you need to know is that you need the 2.4 full engine, the 2.4's 5-speed, and the 2.4 5-speed harness and ECU. Most of the time you get the ECU with the harness. Make sure also that you get the 2.4 clutch, flywheel, throw-out barring, presure plate with the transmission. Then you should be set. I'm stayin' with the same style transmission Isuzu so I do not have to do any welding of new mounts, but I'm not 100% about the newer Eco transmission going on to the newer 2.4's. So you just have to tie up that lose end about that. I hoped I helped
BTW this is Trey TRD Cav Fire posting on this acct.

i guess my main question is, going from a 99 2.2 to a 97 2.4...will the engine harness plug in or am i ganna have to rewire @!#$?
The harnesses are all the same where they plug in, but you just need to get the right harness. Trey@winksonline.com if you need anything

your better off with the 2.3L ho swap IMO but you already know how I feel about it
if you need some help, let me know. I've done several engine swaps.
Oh and it's "Saws-all" in my house (LOL)
nah ive got everything, ive got a whole donor car. I started getting the engine pulled today, hopefully have it the rest of the way out tomorrow.
Well I wish you luck! Sorry I was posting on the girls acct, but I tend to have no post at the end of the month. At least you get to have a 5-speed for the swap, but I've still just about have everything I need now. If I want to go NA for now I need a stock downpipe just off the manifold cause I used that from the manifold back on the Erin's(HotLiLCavZ). If you are not going to use it I could use it just down about 2 foot or so.
nah the car im pulling everything off of has an upgraded exhaust so im ganna use all of it. sorry.
is it easier to drop a 2.3 ho in a 99 2200 or a 2.4 into a 2200?
more wiring in the 2.3L, it's obdI. but the tranny for the 2.3L is the same as the 2.4L, as far as I know. plus you get more power off the bat, and the ability to stroke the crap out of the 2.3L (2.6L from what I've seen so far, could be more) and boost it on top of that.
Either way, going from 2200 to 2.3/2.4 is a good amount of work, unless you get a donor car like Keith did, then it make things a little bit easier to do. Not much easier, but finding where everything goes, and getting parts is a little easier.
if you have automotive experience, this is cake. if everything really just bolts right up like it looks like it will, me, twigg, and mark will have this swap done in one day.
Mine would be done this weekend if I wasn't doing different gears in the transmission, or if I had the wiring harness for the 2.4 5-speed...
BlackWdowCavy if you have an extra 5-speed console we might be able to get that off you maybe. We would just want the parts that clips out with the boot. Thanks again.
there is NOTHING in the car, this thing was stripped bare when i got it, only things left were the things that would make it run. lol
The question you asked Trey about the fuel line - you need the quick connects remover (two of them and they are two different sizes). Both lines are attached by the firewall. You can call Trey on his cell 614-371-8731 for a better explaination

hey guys, my engine keeps throwing a knock sensor codebeside for the obvious knock sensor itself, anyone have any suggestions? also, my DRLs arent working, which i dont really care about, just wondering if anyone knew why.
you may have to trace the wiring compared to the diagram, the harness may be off a pin or two giving you the code. I'm not much help in that area, I went from LO to HO so I was plug and play.
I have the manuals though if you need some basic help.
sorry bro, feel bad I can't do more right now. I'll try my best though.
