I purchased the Liquivac Topside Oil Extractor and must confess this little tool is very nice. Anybody else use them?

I use the mightyvac extractor on the cavalier and my brothers lexus. I haven't had any problems and I get all the oil out. Best part is the ecotec has a top mount oil filter so I can change the oil in a suit and not get dirty.

its great for cars with a top mount oil filter so you don't need to jack up the car to do an oil change. Its seems to be pretty popular with the BMW and Mercedes people since I see a lot of them use it. I like it because I pull out the dip stick. Shove in the hose. Set it to extract...pump 10 times and come back 15 minutes later and it pulls out all the oil. Change the filter since mine is top mount and add the 5 qts. of oil and viola my oil is changed.

I prefer this way since I have a fear of jacking up my car. When I first got it I was doing my brakes and i heard a pop noise. I moved my head from behind the caliper and then the car fell off the jack. If I didn't move I would have been dead, my neck would have been crushed between the rotor and fender. Now I have a fear of jacking up my car or any car....yes I am odd.

its the best on lawn mowers, I can see someone using it on a car so you dont have to crawl under it, perfect for Ecos since the filter is uptop like you said

This makes life a lot easier for individuals who are not allowed to change the oil in their community due to messes. I don't have to worry with jacking up either of my cars and I can slip under the truck to remove the oil filter on that one. One reason I hated changing my oil was jacking the car up, the mess of using the oil pan then cleaning the oil pan, and working in a cramped enviroment.

1. Turn the car on for five minutes
2. Pinch the hose
3. Pump the device 35 times (mine says)
4. Turn car off after five minutes
5. Pull Dipstick and insert tube
6. Unpinch the hose and watch the oil drain
7. Have a beer while waiting

That's basically it.

Acidburn - that's kind of funny... I found it on a MB board

Wow, lemonyellowcavy. I remember that name from a longgggggggg time ago.

Secondly, I wouldn't think that he'd be driving an AMG! Are you on MBW? I have the same sn on there.

And yes, very popular w/ the MB's.

I'd be more than happy to discuss with you any questions or other Merc cars. I went in blind when I bought my 32 and I don't regret it, but there are a few other options that are fun.

So far I've changed the oil in my cavalier 2.2 Eco and the SLK and both experiences were good. Sucks for the 2.2L OHV motors though. You are still stuck getting the filter out (which I always found obnoxious on that motor)

no dipstick in the OHV's too from what i remember, you fill and check oil in the same big spot, sucks

That is correct. But it should still work to siphon the oil out. I just remember before the motor swap it was always a pain to get the filter off the back of the motor.

Ignore the colorful circles, I stole this off the web, lol.

Its a pain if you still have the PCM, A/C Dryer, and Stock Intake Box to get in your way.

I can reach mine from the top of the motor under the hood, easy peasy.

Thats just me tho

I still would no do this because I feel it would allow you to suck gunk into places you do not want it. This is me. I like to inspect my oil as it drains as well.

Shouldn't have a whole lot of gunk build up...but I understand where you are coming from with that.
