You shouldn't need a tune if all you are doing is a port/polished head.

plus, id rather get responses from people who have the same car as me, and probably know more about its little quirks, and who are more familiar with it, etc.

Yeah the ppl on IA love to follow trends, and copy each other. Just ignore them. I hardly ever post there anymore, because of how ignorant the ppl there can be.

the best way to get answers on IA is to state in the questions in a general sense. dont mention anything doestic. just ask for suggested shops for head work.

Although the stock 2.2 head (I think I remember you having a base model 96Sunfire) doesn't flow well, you can't expect to see night and day difference from just a port and polished. If you want to see big results you'll have to dig deeper, and look into a cam regrind and such, or look into doing a build with boost. If you decide to go with boost you will need to do a top feed conversion so that you can change your injectors. (95-97 used a side feed setup where injectors can't really be changed) There are plenty of threads in the performance and boost forums on 2.2/2200 builds. Decide how much money you're willing to spend, and which route you want to take then do some digging in those forums. You'll find a lot of ppl here that will tell you not to waste your time with the 2.2, and that you need to just swap in a 2.4 or Eco. However they aren't the ones funding your project so only you can decide how you want to spend your money.
