anyone around the sudbury area want to go splits on HP tuners software? if we get 5 or 6 people we can bring the price down ALOT and just buy extra credits for each of us. the more we get, the cheeper!

What is HP tuners?
your kidding right? Its the new software that allowed us to tune the computer in our cars. Adjust limiters, change spark advance/retard, adjust shift points for auto's, everything your compuiter has can apparently be edited.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Price?
total about 600 cdn and a few bucks more for each credits, but all you need is the software and as many credits as you need, so say we get 6 people interested, thats 100 each+ any credits we need if we get 10 people in thats 60 bucks each plus extra credits.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you get 6 people, that's $600 + $200 (for 4 extra credits), you really only make it more affordable up to 4 people, the benefits drop off pretty quick, and you have extra people you need to share the cable with. We have done the same thing here in WPG, and have 5 people that went together, well worth the $140CAN/each IMO.

Interested
anyone else?? cmon

Me and lee were thinking about going half ways...this sounds better....count me in.
ok so for a grand total were looking at a grand total of $668.64CAD soo roughly $167 each. Somone else read the ordering page because it says:
"Now that you know what licenses you require, you can add up the cost in credits to activate those licenses when the time comes. Remember that VCM Suite ships with 8 credits standard so in most cases you will not need to purchase additional credits up front."

hey ian im interested in how the hp tuner works, when do you take your ride out for a cruse, would like to meet up once to check out the tuner

The credits are stored in the cable, so if you want another cable, you have to buy another package.

A few things to duly note since I just purchased this 2 days ago.
$668 cad???? Are you getting the standard version? If so that's not smart. It's like buying a car with no wheels - sure it's a car but it's not gonna go anywhere.
You NEED the Enhanced I/O Version to log wideband data as well as other optional inputs. I wouldn't settle for less than the enhanced version which is $649 USD.... roughly $729 cad
Then if you go past 4 ppl (the included 8 credits) you need to start BUYING credits for $99 usd - roughly $111 cad per car.
Then you need to pay for shipping... $15 USD... around $20 cad...
THEN you need to cover border rapage. God knows what that may be, if any.
Already for tuning 5 cars you're looking at $870 cad shipped to your door... if you want to do 6 ppl like you mentioned that's $981 to your door in Canadian funds.
Split between 6 people that's $163.50 CAD per person.
Now the question comes up - if you all split it equally.... who keeps the cable for the most part? On top of that - who pays for / provides the laptop? That's another cost to factor in...
THEN there is the final problem - tuning it. Yes this software can be learned but it takes quite a while and the learning curve is steep... Quite steep. You can break an engine in seconds if you're stupid with it... are you guys assuming one guy helps everybody and tunes their cars with them for HOURS or does everybody learn it on their own slowly as they get to use it? (This will take months)
Are you going to tune it blind? Will you have a Wideband sensor/gauge kit for everybody to use? (Shared cost, add that on) Is everybody expected to have their own wideband gauge kits? That's around $500 cad a person then to stack onto the cost. Don't tune it blind... that's really not a smart thing to do. If you want to get the gains out of this software that you CAN get you'll NEED this gauge to monitor things as you make changes.
I hope you see where I'm going with this. It's not as rosy of a picture as is painted... if Buddy Joe is using it and learning it and you need it, you've gotta go pick up the cable... assuming you're all using your own laptops. If it's a shared laptop, somebody loses their laptop for a LONG time.
Not that I'm trying to dissuade you. I got 5 ppl together myself, came up with my own system to manage how this deal works out and who provides the laptop, holds the cable, and who will basically spend all their time learning to tune. Is this one guy going to be monetarily compensated both for his time to help tune all the cars and for his time to research and learn the software? Once you've figured that out, then the price was split accordingly in a VERY fair manner.
If you can get a bunch of people together I commend you. It has taken me months to get some trustworthy people together and I look forward to tuning a 300 whp turbo 2.2 in a few weeks and then moving onto a few simpler N/A tunes and then finally finishing with my own 500 whp Turbo tune. The more you tune, the better you'll get at it. As I said, the learning curve is steep - and I hope you're really good at math. You'll need to be, for the most part.
Good luck in your endeavour! The possibilities of this software are endless...

Well said, Very well said. Lots to take into account here.
Thanks Darren. I know Derrick is all giddy about getting that turbo 2.2 running the way it can! 15-20 psi here he comes.

True story, but the first step is to find people. as far as tuning goes, wait untill somone comes out with a decent tune and posts it online for download. Right now it is just a scope to see if there is interest. after there is interest and some willing people, we move the next step figuring all the other stuff out.
I apreciate the time you took to post, and will definitely take what you said into strong consideration
Thanks again,

Not a problem.
Don't forget people put a lot of time and work and in many cases $$$ (Dynotime) to get those tunes... you may be hard pressed to get your hands on one. I checked the HPT repository and there isn't much in there currently as far as base tunes are concerned....
Generating the interest is the first tough hurdle. Good luck. if you have any questions about the software I'm on the upswing of that learning curve.
