ya i'm in the same situation --> some guy did a hit and run on my car and I got all of his info but he won't pay up even though he promised he would. The court fees + lawyer are not worth the trouble.

If you got his info (and that SHOULD include his insurance), call your insurance broker and they'll pay for it, and he'll get screwed over large for it.
Your statement is misleading though, because if you got his info, and he promised he'd pay, then it's not really a hit and run.
