does anyone have a welder i could borrow in the TC's? perferably gasless (i know the welds look crap but i dont have the time or resources to get gas).. so does anyone of teh MN J's have a welder i could borrow in a couple weeks?
im getting one for christmas... but i don't think you'll wanna wait that long.
ive got access to one but im a little far away..
i was thinking about asking one for christmas. the way it looks it might be that long before i get something done with my car
charge piping. i'd rather have welded pipes instead of silicone couplers
a gasless welder wont do a very good job, probably have a bunch of pin hole boost leaks

with the welder im getting (if they get the specific model i asked for), i can hook up a shielding gas for using the solid wire, and it also comes with flux cored wire for gasless welding. im gonna see how much i can get a shielding gas for around here, and probably just pick up a canister of it so i can use it if i want to.
either way, if you use the correct amp settings, getting pinholes should be at a minimum. of course, always check the welds before finishing anything up.
which model are yoiu looking at Cannon?
i'm gonna start looking for one, it would be nice to find one at an auction or something, i don't need anything fancie, just good enough to do minor jobs
i was thinking about a cheap $200 craftsmen one, since i work at sears i can get a 10% discount, but i don't think i would be happy with it so i'm holding off on it. I would't mind one that has the same function of being able to use gas or not. I think that one you posted is sold at Sears also Cannon but i am prolly wrong too
not sure about Sears, all i know is it's sold at Home Depot.
ryan why did'nt you ask me, i could probually weld it for you when brian is'nt in the shop and even if he is, I'll get him to do it for cheap. You know I can get him to hook it up for my friends sometimes. But I would worry about getting your car running good first before boosting it, and please do a compression test first, you don't want your car to end up like my second engine. Have you learned nothing from my mistakes.
thats the thing though, i've thought about it, but you and i both know it would be nice to have your own welder.
and you and i both know that i'm no where near ready YET to boost it yet
p.s no i haven't learned from your mistakes
and let me borrow your stupid compression tester
its not mine, its brendon's but I still think its in my hyundai, It sounds like it could be your headgasket older 2.2's had an issue with them I don't know about the newer ones though. You were ready until you decided to try and tune megassquirt na without a wideband.
yeah except what happened, had nothing to do with the tuning. the tuning was fine for N/A
what happened happened because megasquirt doesn't like low impedence injectors (like the 98+ 2200 have) megasquirt can't run low impedence injectors without whats called a flyback board used to control the current going to the injectors. thats why that happened. not the tuning..
MMMM...........my dad just got a lincoln 135 plus or pro, something like that. Awsome welder........gas or flux core........I'd def. recommend one of the new style helmets too(self darkening)
I'd say that welded charge pipes might be a bitch in the future.....ie you need to cut them if you need to remove one for some reason, unless they are all ran out of the way. That's my opinion though.
And damn it fodder my 4 day warning/ban thing is still popping up!!!!

well, i was talking to one of my cousins today, and he's got a miller welder with an argon/CO2 mix shielding gas. he said he usually gets the gas tank filled for like $25. so if you can get a welder that will let you hook up a shielding gas, do it, it'll be better when welding.

Jason sorry i didn't mean i would weld all the pipes but most of it so i can come out in say 3 pieces instead of like 9
well i
might be getting one for xmas, my mom asked me what i wanted and said that or a powder spray.
I have a small lincoln 100 flux core (never converted to gas yet, too convient other then extra cost of flux wire) Have the regulators to convert, but haven't bought bottle and gas yet. If you want a pretty weld then you should use gas, but flux core if fine for the majority of the things I do. I've had the welder for a long time and never had any problems with it, lincoln is a very good brand, miller also.
