hrmmm, that's not a half bad idea. I was also thinking about buying it, then returning it once I am done using it. Do places like home depot take air compressors back and give you a refund?
chances are if theres oil in it they wont take it back, without oil in it it will not work
Check out Harbor Freight. They have many outlets in IL and you can get a compressor for less than $80 that would meet your requirements. They have a website that tell where all the retail outlets are.

i work at menards and we take it back as long as it is withing 30 days and you have a receipt.
usually people just make up some lame excuse.
