Braided stainless line for the motor...
Tuesday, September 04, 2012 10:10 AM
Has anyone used any stainless braided line from the water pump to the thermo-stat neck. Would -8an line be large enough? Seems like the stock line measures between -6an and -8an.

I plan on using -6an lines for my external trans cooler to the trans, and bypassing the stock cooler altogether, and -4an lines for my power steering relocation. Seems like a few have used -4an or -6an for the power steering lines.

Any thoughts from anyone?

I was going to cut my tube off the water pump housing and use -8 to the waterneck. But decided to keep the plastic clip peice for now and run a hose from there to the water neck.

-8 for waterneck line
-6 for PS lines

David, are you just letting the line hang around the back of the motor?

Well I cant remember the size but M2 was going to chop my water neck off if I wanted and thread it for i want to say -12... right now I have stainless braided for all but the 2 main coolant lines... not an LD9, but I dont see any reason why you couldnt use it...

Here's a quick pic of I think Tylers. -8 bung

But a line coming from that and yes loop around the back of the motor to the water neck. I was trying to find a pic of Fetters but he took his pictures off and they aren't available. He had a good pic of how he did his.

You will need to use -6 for the power steering lines as the adapters for the rack and pump are for -6.
