i have a regular 2.2l SOHC out of a 1999 cavalier. the "secret cam" sticky was posted for the 2.3l z24. is there a duration and lift combination that would fit a non z24 cavi better as well? im looking to do a little upgrade on my cavi and would appreciate the help
your 99 2.2 is an OHV (overhead valve) meaning your single camshaft is below the head and pushrods are used to actuate the valves. As for a cam upgrade i dont think you can use a cam from another vehicle like the secret cams for the ld9 you will probably have to buy an aftermarket camshaft.
i knew that the ld9 cam trick wouldnt work for my car but i havent managed to find another camshaft or even a performance crankshaft online or anywhere ive looked. but then again i dont have a lot of time to research as i go to college for the automotive industry. still learning though. any help would be appreciated.
Your best bet is to send a stock cam in for a regrind.
send it to a machine shop? if thats so then wouldnt i have to find new journal bearings and new connecting rods?
