i bought a motor and was told it was a 99 block but going over it it has a older single wire knock sensor. I called the guy and he laughed and said he forgot to tell me he had it in a 97 z24 so he drilled the hole out and helicoiled it to fit the bigger sensor. My question is how can i get it back to the smaller sensor with out taking the motor apart

Just use the old sensor hole? Sounds like he just added another hole and put the 97 sensor in....so the 99 hole/sensor should still be there.

you buy another SMALLER 'helicoil' insert piece from mscindustrialsupply.com. i cant remember the exact part number off hand but its floating around here somewhere.
