question on cherry bombs

my exhaust is about to fall apart so im getting all new pipeing from the down pipe back. Im looking for a deep growl but dont wanna spend a whole lot of cash. I just ordered a megan racing muffler and was looking into glasspacks. i have no cat as it is and i was wanting to know would it sound good with just a glasspack and my muffler and weres the best place to put the glasspack since i dont have the cat. should it be closer to the muffler, by the down pipe or in between???

a cherrybomb will do the trick, i had one on my old 98 sunfire and it did what it was supposed to, and your gonna want to put it right in the area your cat was, btw, get a fairly long glasspack

thrush glasspack is a perforated core. this is what you want. cherry bomb brand are louvred core, these are not what you want.

the megan racing muffler will sound bad, and you will have a lot of rasp without a cat.

ill have to disagree, when i got my glass pack for my 98 sunfire, i checked right in the store, it had a perforated core, not a louvered core

check out their website. the only glasspacks cherry bomb produces are louvred core.

older cherry bombs were different. they use to be directional. instal one direction loud booming, reverse it and basically just a straight pipe. ive got the old style on my 03 eco now and its a really nice low growl. almost silent when ideling , unless the engine is cold then its loud and it vibrates the car like cheap subs at highway speed.

The louvers on the cherry bombs are the same diameter as the inlet and outlets so you're not really losing ultimate flow at wot.
But at lower velocities, the louvers will help to keep things a bit more quiet than perforations.
That's what I'm running on my car right now is a Moroso resonator and 12 inch cherry bomb for the actual muffler. It's loud but sounds good.
I'll eventually change to something a bit more quiet when that time comes.
