cam basic operating range

i have been looking at cams for a while and i found some comp cams for my 2.2 ecotec. i was looking at stage 1 and stage 2 N/A cams and i have 1 question...what exactly does basic operating range mean? the stage 1s are claiming 2600-6800rpm...and stage 2, 3000-7500rpm, does that mean my engine will rev to 7500 rpm or would i have to flash my ecu. because it hits the limiter at around 6500 rpm.

you'd have to hptune your computer to rev past 68, you'd also have no power under 3000 rpm

you'd also need to make sure your valve springs can handle that much lift and duration without coilbind and valve float... the valve springs are the weakest point in a head.

there is a local hptuner here that charges $250 one time and will then tune your computer whenever based on his availability... he started the tune on my car and will finish it when i get my exhaust rattle taken care of...

you would have to build your engine to rev higher (not sure because idk much about the eco). but the range is showing where the usefull power is.

no power under 3000...do you mean the cams wouldnt give power or my engine would be crap under 3000?

it'll be really sluggish and crawl up until it hits 3000 then your RPMs will clumb reallly fast.. my car is a prime example of this
