Maybe I don't remember correctly, but I thought the 2.3L pistons have a larger wrist pin, which requires custom rods (or at least machining a 2.4L rod). Am I wrong?

I have no signiture

no, the wrist pins are the same size. its the journal end that is thicker on the 2.3 rod over the 2.4 rod. it is easily machined down to fit though.

not a big fan of cometic gaskets after my experience, but everything else sounds really good

is a setup like this acceptable for boost, or strictly na? what kind of wall thickness are you gonna be looking at?

i know brad is building his for na only, but he mentioned in his thread about the walls being too thin for it.....if it could be boosted it would be one hell of a 4 banger!

you have to check the block for coreshift to see if you can bore more than .040 ... many blocks have really bad coreshift

of the two blocks me and jay have had tested one would have been iffy at .060, the other will be safe at .060 and really could go to .080 but he wants lots of nitrous so he played it safe.

one really cannot gauge just how much a block can be bored. you need to have YOUR specific block sonic tested to make sure. but general rule of thumb .080 is safe on a 2.4. its been done without issue. has it been pushed to 25 psi? doubtful but i do know brandon fetter's engine is .040 and we all know of what its capable of.

well make sure you coat it with copper spray... there have been a few reports of them leaking between the layers... mine only stayed on my car 150 miles before i swapped to the GM Stock one... (but my cometic was the .030, and the .014 extra clearance from the GM gave me a bit of peace of mind with my head shave, 10.5+:1 cams and crane .430 cams

Well i dont really care to use it i just need to keep the compression low. Whats the thickness of the gm gasket? .044?
