I need to replace my pacesetter gasket (finally blew) and I was wondering if anyone has ever used the "Felpro" gasket from Autozone. I priced out the Delco one and it was like 36 dollars. Just wondering if I should go ahead and order the Delco, or if the other is of equal quality. Thanks!
Kevin
use the stock one..its like 11 bucks from the dealership.
Am I looking at the wrong thing? I was told 36 dollars. GM Parts direct is like 22. Any Idea on the part number?
Thanks for the information. I am going to order the Fel Pro..
i have a fel-pro exhaust manifold gasket sitting next to me. it looks identical to the GM one. fel-pro makes pretty high quality parts, you wont have any issues.
^^^ well i would buy GM's headgasket over felpro, but otherwise, i'd agree
ive been using the GM factory gasket with mine for over a year with no problem
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Mine is okay but I wanted to change it to a copper gasket about 0.040 inches to get better compression/performance? What do you know about this? I was almost going to buy one for about $40 on E-bay (dead soft copper conforms perfectly to your head and built in flange or cut out or whatever its called for EGR valve). Looked nice; thought about swapping it for better peformance. Necessary?

find your old stock/factory gasket and re-use it
ive reused the original gasket on every gm car/truck ive put headers on , reguardless of mileage !!!!!!!!!!
Even if I got 170 whp for example?

I figured more power, better gasket? lol.. If I had 300 or 500 horsepower I probably would get a 3/4 inch steel gasket or some crap right? Does having a copper gasket help me with compression rather than using a gm supplied one? I may not understand the gasket philosophy here so tell me

sometimes. but when it comes to exhaust maniofold gaskets, the ones for our cars (with the exception of the paper flavor) are pretty stout.

no.

you said compression before... do you mean higher piston compression like you'd get from a thinner head gasket? if so, exhaust gaskets don't work that way.

there's not much to the philosophy here. gaskets seal things. they take up the slack for the imperfect mating surfaces between two parts. they stop leaks. that's it.
