It's a good filter without a doubt. But a Purolator PureONE, or NAPA Gold (Wix) are just as good for much cheaper, than the Champion Labs made K&N. Champ labs also makes Mobil 1, and the ACDelco filters which in this case are E-Core. Just stay away from all FRAM filters except the Extended Guard. The extra and toughgard are the crappiest filters on the market.

Actually, it's probably best to stay clear of Fram oil-filters all-together... as I've heard & seen that their canister is made of thinner wall steel and that causes them to "balloon" (Expand) sightly and cause a pressure-drop of 5-10psi. I personally go with Carquest's Wix-made filter, and haven't any troubles. I've also heard that Fram's bypass spring isn't up to snuff, either. So....

Ya know, if you can afford the initial cost... I recommend that cleanable, reusable filter I've seen in some magazines. It's got large, kidney-shaped inlet slots & no bypass spring, so all the oil that ever flows through it gets filtered. And the lack restriction results in higher oil-pressure. Plus, it comes with metal-particle attracting magnets built-in, which helps allot. All you need to do is remove the metal-screen & clean it with ordinary solvent, reinstall in the finned aluminum canister & lube the silicone O-ring with a touch of oil, and that's it!

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

i've used fram oil filter since new and i have 218,000 on it.

and about the safety wire hole. Which im confused on.

the website says this about it..

"Drilled safety wire holes for racing in canister oil filters"

does that mean something has to be hooked up to it?

It means you can hook a wire to the filter, so if it blows off, it doesnt become scrap metal on the ground for other people to run over during a race.

We use fram filters at walmart, and for that reason alone I refuse to use them, they are cheap, thats why we use them.

Granted ive never seen one swell up and lose oil pressure.

I used a wix filter in my ecotec this past week. I saw what I THINK was small shavings in my old oil, and I only have 43k miles. I used a bosch filter last time, so hopefully this wix filter will hold up better.

Oh alrightt. So I shouldnt have to worry bout the safety hole draining/leaking oil or anything ?

k&n filters are just fine (they are the old [good] style mobile 1 filters irrc), the safety wire is for racing applications that require everything that can un-screw be safety wired to prevent it from doing so when it would be inopportune. next time graba purlator pure one filters, slightly better filter for cheaper.
