I drive a 01 2.2 and i was wondering if these 20-25 dollar CAI's were worth it or should i just stick to my ghetto autozone short ram.

all intakes are pretty much the same and work the same. Spend $300 or spend $25... its all pipe and a filter.

If you want name brand and want something that looks really good spend the money, if you want just an intake that works buy the cheap ones ebay.

it'll look nice if you hang it on the wall. but if you put it on your engine, expect fitment issues and for it to rust within a week.

for intake... get a cheap 20 dollar one from ebay and buy a K&N filter.... win

a pipe is a pipe. one peice of aluminum is not super-awesome-high-tech compared to the next. so just get the ebay cold air that boes down into the fender and make sure you put your fender wells back in otherwise its gonna function similar to a shop vac in bad weather.

as for the header... stay away from off-brand ebay headers. fitment will suck and even if they do fit youre looking at buying a new one in a few months (the welds will fail/crack/ because its made really @!#$ty)

pacesetter is a good inexpensive alternative.

straight answer for the header then. NO.
if you don't have the money to do it right, dont waste your time. you'll only regret it later. Pacesetter makes a decent header. and the plain steel ones are cheap.

ebay intakes are a good alternative to the $200+ name brand ones. i have one on my car with a K&N filter. does it's job well.

If you do buy that header, make sure it's completely flush at the ports. I bought one that I had to belt sand and test with a straight edge until it was flush and sat nice against the head. Also, does that intake connect to the plastic plenum or the throttle body? Personally I had the ones that use the plastic but it's tough to find a cheap one that goes right to the TB.

I have a re-worked ebay header on my 96.

The flange was wavy, Bird @!#$ welds, After the work put into it to make it worth the effort of putting on, I would have been better off with the pacesetter.

But it works fine. Almost a year later and no issues. No rust either. Clean the @!#$ off of it before you run it.

Nice mid-top end on the highway.
